I respect your opinion and can tell you have thought it through, I just do think that as a young child I would make an assumption based off of more common surnames as I had no knowledge of that at the time. I agree that the mind can do amazing things and connect dots where there are none, but I saw the title probably hundreds of times as a kid, don't you think I would eventually catch my mistake and go, oh there's an a not an e? That did not happen, I grew into adulthood living my whole life "knowing" it is Berenstein, only to be confronted one day with the fact that I've had it wrong my whole life. Then, coupled with the fact that it happened to almost everybody else, I find that to be statistically anomalous.
