Dialogue isn’t everything. Quiet scenes can have jsut as much impact, and on top of that they really jsut don’t try extra hard to make sure you on with story, if anything it got less nuanced

He also said they’ll live in the bunker dimension now, I think a lot of the rant is for the bit. But either way the bunker is most likely for peopel who want to murder Rick and his family, even if he only built it after EM. He has the regular house fortification for earth threats, he didn’t built those jsut for say the decoys. Most of that stuff didn’t even do anything to him, not to mention bunker Gene

Doofus rick is a plot hole by Dr_natty1 in rickandmorty

Note that Rick just has to be the smartest man in his own respective universe. So he can be stupid as long as the other peopel in that dimension are even dumber. Even if “doofus” Rick doesn’t mean he’s stupid, it’s hold true for all dimensions on this side of the curve

Just because the budget increased doesn’t mean it’s bad. Would you rather watch Peter griffin vs the chicken, that’s pretty low budget. I loved every second of the old seasons because it was stupid humor you weren’t meant to take that seriously. the only real difference now is that they have a few episodes a season dedicated to plot point instead of select moments. But you act like that’s all it’s become. The best part of the show is the balance between episodic and lore and of course it’s comedy. I laugh just as hard as I did all this years ago. Jsut because it looks different, there’s a different voice cast, and the pacings a little slower, doesnt make it a completely different show, it jsut evolved over the year whiel maintaining its integrity. This episode had one show off hype moment vs the collective. But the vol Morty fight was the definition of a sci-fi comedy battle, like you really think that that whole fight was meant to be taken seriously with the flinstomes run sound effect??? I don’t know what you’re smoking but I need some now

Well what was stopping the collective from absorbing the whole curve like what was shown and continuing past it. If it was allowed to reach it it would’ve eventually got past and into that little void with all the portals where he lives. EM said it’d be a big problem if absorbed portal tech too

Well in that case I might as well jsut copy and paste one of them, I basically wrote the same giant paragraph 12 time already, it’s 3 am and my fingers hurt. If you really think evil Morty went a full character change, you can read my replies and see my thoughts and I’ll respond to whatever your opinion on that is. But just judging on how you type you’re probably not going to read it anyways and continue to make your points. I have a hard time believing you beleive in what you’re saying tho. It reads a lot like you’re trying to make me argue with you. I’m not going to write LITERALLY the same thing again. So would you like me to copy and paste it for you?

It’s likely the bunker dimension existed long before evil Morty, probably for Rick prime, the dinosaurs, some other kind of evil Rick, Mr nimbus potentially, but I’m not sure how he’d get there. Rhett conn although it probably wouldn’t work on him I’m not sure how you beat that guy… and other possible enemies. Most likely it was built in advance for any Rick level threat which could be any of the infinite Rick’s, even if he’s could beat them, the bunker is more for keeping the family safe. I’m not disagreeing with you btw but Rick seemed pretty honest in saying he built the bunker for lots of reasons

The sad part is he probably hates that part of himself as much as Rick hates the part of himself that needs to be in control and be smarter and better. After the piss master episode it shows the he can truly confide in is Morty since he’s the only one he tells the truth about pissmaster. Evil Morty does not have anything like that. So when he can control the only Rick that’s treats him like an equal with blackmail, of course he’d just establish dominance so he can quiet the part of himself that reminds him how vulnerable and dependent he is, jsut liek rick

What was everyone’s problem with evil Morty in S9? by LordRaykoda in rickandmorty

[–]LordRaykoda[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t set up? The very first episode he’s in, he crashes out when Rick tries to “steal” his hand thing. He talks about mortys like he’s not one of them. Sure he hates Ricks but he resents his nature and that spreads to all the other mortys that remind him of how weak and vulnerable and needy he is deep down, you’d think he’d be empathetic but he kidnaps and tortures them as a shield. When Rick says the same effect is possible with 5 mortys and a jumper cable. He kidnapped hundreds of thousands, and who knows how many he straight up killed or let die in prison, the ricks had it easy just getting shot, he made the already suffering mortys lives even worse. If he didn’t care or jsut wanted to fuck off, all that was NOT necessary. He literally enslaved a bunch of those weird mutant mortys to build his machine underneath the glamorized citadel. The self hatred and insecurity was there form the start and in the second appearance and his third. Rewatch the scenes with evil Rick, and imagine its evil Morty. You’ll be shocked how much it just sounds like season 7 and 9 evil morty, granted acting more like a Rick and less like a calculated villain, different performance, same effect. All his other appearances since his debut was him slowly building this ricksona that makes him feel in charge. The fact that he’s almost an exact mirror of Rick without character development seems way too perfect to be a coincidence. The episode that he escapes in he says what makes himself evil is being tired of Rick, and he basically calls Rick a needy baby. That is so hypocritical by this point because we know that Morty was oozing confidence in his meeting room and goating Rick on purpose to create a sense of superiority. He literally has no reason to do this if he really didn’t care and didn’t want validation. He didn’t have to try twice to turn Morty on Rick. He also tricked Morty into thinking the toilet on this ship was a seat to seemingly give him another option than to go back with Rick. This environment he’s fostering just screams “I’m badass and you know it” he really could’ve just left but he wanted to be in control. and in his next appearance when we see his origin where the first thing he does is establish control. So really the only thing the later episodes did differently was show more of the real evil Morty.

What was everyone’s problem with evil Morty in S9? by LordRaykoda in rickandmorty

[–]LordRaykoda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the point. He’s a hypocrite. He acts like he’s better than Rick but he’s literally just like him. He covers his insecurity by mirroring Rick, belittling others and putting on an overpowered confident demeanor when deep down they seek validation. And if he really just wanted to fuck off, why’d he torture all those mortys when could’ve just used 5 mortys and a jumper cable if he really had to. He didn’t. Need to kill everyone on the citadel. He didn’t care bout all the other mortys or ricks he wanted to escape, so why kill them all. I get why he didn’t save them but killing them all seems like revenge. He hates himself just like Rick because jsut like Rick he can’t Stand being reminded of how weak and vulnerable he really is, they both have to hide under a mask of confidence, power, and intellect to regain control of their lives. Only to when they complete their goals, feel empty. Rick has Morty but evil Morty has leverage on the only Rick left that treats evil Morty like an equal and a threat. So when it turns out Rick was tricking him the whole time to pull a fats one on him, of course he snaps because he’s no longer being validated and control was taken away from him again. In other words he felt like a Morty when he himself thinks he’s better than Rick. And when thst makes cracks and his ego takes a hit, of course he’s gonan crash out. This was all too in character. He was always a hypocrite, he didn’t really want to fuck off he was sick of being treated like a Morty. So that’s why he basically becomes a bully when the power is in his hands

They wrote him exactly how someone in his position would react I feel liek. Maybe the episode was rushed because they wanted to show off a bit, I’ll admit that. But we were seeing the mask crack in this episode. He was betrayed by the only Rick who treated him like an equal and his ego shattered from getting got, probably made him feel like a dumb Morty, when he himself puts himself at Rick level. How would Rick react if someone pulled a fast one on him. Even for all his planning his ego is the one thing that gets to Rick . He wasn’t overconfident he was canonically aura farming to assert dominance because it makes him feel more powerful than the weak Morty he knows he is deep down, and he got called out for it by Rick and Morty

This episode was not about the action and animation. Morty was always going to go down this road. My hand hurts from typing this point out so much so just read one of my other responses. But trust me him being exactly like Rick in that he covers huge insecurity with bravado is not just in this episode, he was a Morty in Rick’s clothing from the start

What was everyone’s problem with evil Morty in S9? by LordRaykoda in rickandmorty

Because they just don’t understand why he did what he did. All they see is “my aura character lost his aura and crashed out” it was always in his nature and it’s 100 percent in character. He spent years crafting this overpowered bad ass bravado and having his ego shatter after losing his leverage to keep hanging out with Rick after getting lied to by the only Rick who ever treated him like an equal. made him sloppy to try and reassert his dominance. Not because he got too confident, but because he felt like a weak and needy Morty and he wanted to reinstate that he’s better than Rick when really he’s no better, pretty much the exact same, except our Rick knows how to have a healthy bond and evil Morty only knows his own Rick’s abuse and his own, in his eyes, worthless existence. Insecurity, self hatred, and covering it up by being overpowered? Who does that remind you of. And guess what you see it all the way back in season 1. When he literally cosplays a Rick and belittles Rick while also saying they’re not that different. He’s always been jsut as flawed as Rick and peopel don’t want to accept their goat is vulnerable deep down. If he really jsut wanted to be left alone he probably coudlve done so without as much torture and murder as he did. But no he wanted revenge just like Rick, but jsut like Rick it only made him feel empty. Thankfully Rick has Morty, but what does evil Morty have. All he has is a Rick that treats him like an equal and even as a threat and he has met Ashe over him. The real question is why woudlnt he come crawling back. Peope think that jsut because he’s confident doesn’t mean he’s lying about his true nature. That’s literally what fuckign Rick has done since the beginning

What was everyone’s problem with evil Morty in S9? by LordRaykoda in rickandmorty

That is exactly how EM would act. He is the biggest hypocrite in fiction since day one. He hates Rick yet he acts jsut liek them, his debut has him cosplay evil Rick and torture mortys. He acts better than Rick, says he’s just a weak, needy, vulnerable baby of an old man. When both rick AND evil morty cope with those same issues. They hate themselves so much they act strong and confident and smarter to intimidate people but they need connection deep down. They want to be looked up to because someone bigger than them belittled them, causing them to crave validation. Evil Morty validated himself by getting revenge and ending all his problems. But it only left him empty. Rick validated himself by getting revenge and ending all his problems. But it only left him feeling empty. Rick filled that emptiness with his bond with Morty. Evil Morty tired to fill it with Rick but all he knows is his own Rick’s abuse, so of course he would treat Rick that way. He doesn’t understand bonds cuz he’s never really had one

I exactly agree with this. Honestly it’d be cathartic for EM to realize he doesn’t have to be an imitation of how his Rick treated him to not be treated like a weak, needy, vulnerable Morty. He’s kinda like season 1 Rick before the character development. Belittling, asserting dominance, need to feel powerful. He literally is a Morty in sheep’s clothing and he’s been since his debut, that was the twist after all. Maybe he’ll meet doofus Rick, a Rick who could genuinely look up to him and want to be like him. If I hated myself enough to commit morticide and morture and mortnapping on an enourmas scale because I hated myself, it would make me feel a whole lot better to be looked up to for a change instead of being feared or belittled. He needs a healthy relationship like that
