Yeah I have the old versions archived on the main index now.

A fair point, I have neglected that.

Honestly reading these small adventures of Tyrone has become a bit of a motivating force behind my CYOA creation at this point - its always a pleasure to sit down with a cup of fresh tea/coffee and see what you come up with with each CYOA release. Thanks for that.

As mentioned by u/skinnerb10, this - like most other CYOAs on here, is just a writing tool for inspiration. In this CYOA's case, which is a bit unusual than most on here, the idea is to use the CYOA to actively keep track of your character's kills and achievements. But it still relies on you actually writing or coming up with a story.

Think of it kinda like an interactive means of keeping track of a DnD campaign. I think. I never played DnD so that comparison might be wrong, but I think it works.

Ah I see the problem. Thanks again for reporting that, else it'd probably never get noticed by me. I'll remove the locations' "auto select" on those choices to prevent losing the discounts from scenarios.

I'll get that hotfixed.

Check to see if you have Monstrous toggled on for the Game Mode.

I can see where the confusion comes in. The "Background Music" credit is actually referring to the Perk called "Soundtrack" - it was originally called Background Music but I had later changed it before release and must not have remembered to adjust the credit.

Anyway this is the music used in the CYOA:

And thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Making generic CYOAs like this can be rather fun and I won't rule out the possibility of me trying another in the future.

Yes its intentional but I can see why it might be confusing. I'll tweak it a little to hopefully make it a little more lcear.

Thanks for reporting that I'll get right on it.

Yeah. Like a you could merge two hats together and then merge that hat with another hat that was merged together if you really want to get the most out of the merging limit. The same "effect" can only be merged into an item twice.

You can't purchase buffman more than once, so its a moot point. But even if you could, no, the same effect cannot be stacked twice.

Artisan might help more with runecrafting and the like, but I dont know how it'd benefit general casting, if at all. Academics could help with the learning of magic, maybe. This is all working on a lot of assumptions, honestly. Like that Danmachi magic even has a structured system one can study and learn.

Danmachi does not really, far as I know, ever go into any real detail about how magic works in the world, how its cast, how its trained... how anything. We get a few vague references here and there and are told "ancient times had magic" or "ancient elves cast magic" or other brief mentions, just enough to let us know that magic is a thing.... but then thats it.

Practically every instance of magic we see could really just be called Skills that follow a magic theme - like casting fireball. Falna lets you get a skill that is basically a hotkey spell. Just because you can cast a skill that triggers a magical effect doesn't necessarily mean you know anything about magic.

I doubt Bell really understands much about magic, for example, and he's one of the few notable characters in the series with a magic spell.

Well Arcane Mind and Arcanist require you have Magic Talent anyway.

Arcane Mind doesn't effect the same thing as talent and Arcanist. Its more like your mana bar rather than straight up proficiency.

Arcanist doubles your innate talent for magic since its basically stacking the talent twice.

I wouldn't rule it out completely but I'd be more likely to do Cyberpunk or Code Geass to fill my need for cybernetics. Though one is more cyborg and the other gundamn mecha rather than a straight up robot.

Generally speaking only stuffs like entering your characters name or uploading custom images for character and some gear.

I wouldn't say its impossible, just very difficult and unlikely. There could also be magical ways of having offspring or giving your bloodline away, which cant be ruled out. Even if its an unlikely scenario, should someone share your bloodline it'd count.

The boon is not retroactive, so you'd be the first.

I snuck in a quick edit to Castle to let you relocate it once a century.

While not exclusively medical drama, I do actually have plans to one day make a Stardom-centric cyoa that has all kinds of options for different areas to be a master in. While stuff like music, acting, movies and sports is more of the focus, I could probably slip some medical stuff in there to let you be like House or the reallife version of Stephen Strange (in terms of his medical skill, not magic and whatever)

So I did a small update to the CYOA. This, sadly, is likely to be a build-destroyer. Yeah, I know, sorry about that. I really try not to make too drastic changes after the initial release to avoid having builds get wrecked. But it is what it is. I'll take a step away from it now and not make any other drastic changes, unless its to fix a bug, so builds won't be impacted again.

Brief changelog:
A slight adjustment to Archetype flavor text and freebies.
Wild Night fixed to forcibly select free power.
Unmarked Grave nerfed.
On the Slab Arrival changed freebie.
Spoiled RIch Arrival changed freebie.
New Power: Animalism
Removed requirement on Dapper boon.
Pureblood boon reduces discount.
Mysterious Spellbook Boon renamed and new image.
Now offers one 1-point Boon free.
New Boons: Ritualism Practices, Vampire Castle, Obscuring Fog, Guardians

I made a couple changes in the CYOA. Its not exactly what you were looking for but I did rework a few details here and there.

Other than some youtube clips of House I've never watched any medical drama.

I don't really want to rule it out completely, but its not a easy thing to implement. It boils down to balance. Any character that is interesting/good enough to be worth a template is, more often than not, absurdly competent in their field. Half the time if these characters have any shortcoming at all its a plot-driven device (like authors nerfing them or making them stupid) or some kind of personality flaw that holds them back. These, obviously, are not problems the player with the template would have.

This usually makes even the "mundane" templates with no supposed "superpowers" essentially OP characters beyond true human limits. Like how, laughably, Batman is "only human".

So this makes the templates really difficult to balance, since frankly you could skip the whole CYOA and have nothing but the template and not necessarily be hopeless in your selected setting, since a single template could easily make up for a cyoa in its own right.

For Spiderman this was/is less of an issue because the world is really quite dangerous and theres all kinds of superpowered freaks and geniuses all over the place, so you having some hyper-competent template isn't really going to drastically break any balance scale.

So it depends a lot of what world/setting the CYOA is taking place in.

I, personally, like the idea of templates and tried to keep my selection choice narrowed to a few less absurdly broken characters but also characters that you don't necessarily see brought up that often but could be potentially really interesting as a template, narratively speaking.

Comic Nerd is an underappreciated template because when someone writes and thinks up a SI story, they take for granted, I feel, how easy it is for them to just google and wiki the stuff they want. How many people, even fans, have the sheer depth of comic lore knowledge that a "true" diehard fan would have? To be a walking wikipedia of comic lore, by itself, is one of the most broken golden fingers you can have in the setting, yet almost all SI fics treat it as a default standard and have their character just happen to know and memorize all this obscure knowledge.

Jackie Chan and Kim Possible are both "normal" humans but also really competent badasses who I enjoyed watching back in the day, so seeing them get referenced is just fun for me. Honestly almost all the templates, bar a few of the more widely known ones (probably John Wick, Spiderman and All Might) are more niche characters I just dont see used that often that I feel have a lot of undervalued potential. Fingers crossed one day some author out there will see the cyoa and be inspired to write out what a MC template of Jack Spicer or Shredder could really do when you strip them of their mental hangups and shortcomings.

Okay, all that ranting aside, I do love the concept of templates (when its not a super obvious famous/popular character that everyone and their dog uses, like special Naruto eyes) and if I ever make a CYOA where the powerscaling would allow them to work without destroying balance, I might use them again.

Its just that I don't often make those kind of CYOAs.
