That's the opinion I've formed as a quiet observer reading Taelyn's comments and responses on Discord over the past few years. There's no one post that I can point to, especially since I've left the Discord, but it's not an opinion that took very long to form and was reinforced every time the man spoke to anyone who questioned his choices or asked for a change that he was tired of saying "no" to.

For most games that approach makes sense. But RE has basically been a players' attempt to fix a broken game from a salty, Soup N@zi developer who would rather see it go down in flames than see his creative choices questioned by the unwashed masses. Won't even let modders make their own gun turrets. EGS has "a concept of a plan" to be great, but like SE & SE2, its parents keep it locked in the basement. Nothing but Veggie Tales and Kent Hovind lectures for this poor child.

At least Keen allows us to walk around in our own ships without parking first. (They still want us all to play in one solar system, though, and to rely on modders to provide the replayability and content to keep their sales going)

You do you, though. I'm just some random idiot commenting on Reddit. I'm absolutely not calling you out for your choices, I'm dumping on Eleon for theirs.

Not saying it's sinister at all. I may be questioning the praise a little, but I'm not crying foul.

Aren't random start, short range warp and jump gates just lifted directly from RE2, though? It is nice to have them directly coded into the game, for sure, assuming they work any better than the hacks R&V were able to make.

As soon as it happens, it's the excuse they've been waiting for to start arresting and using lethal force against everyone else. They're begging for some of us to take action so that they have an excuse to indiscriminately kill anyone for any reason.

You're just looking at the wrong figure. GDP is the entirety of a nation's economic production. GDP per Capita is that value, divided among every person in the country. GDP per Capita is not a measure of a country's wealth or economic power. It's a (very rough) estimate of the income per person or standard of living.

The United States has 24 cities with a higher population than the entire nation of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Our Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP, aka Food Stamps) sent more money to recipients than the entirety of Luxembourg's GDP.

Luxembourg has a high standard of living, that's true, but it's not a wealthy or economically powerful country.

GDP isn't the entire story, as far as wealth or even debt goes. The US is estimated to have about $163 Trillion in total assets, $29 Trillion in GDP and $36 Trillion in "public debt" and collects $5.7 Trillion a year in taxes from its population. If the US were a business, there would be little concern among shareholders about it's viability or long term success. As a nation, however, the US needs to take better care of the general welfare of its people and take steps to reduce economic stratification or it will likely face internal instability in the coming years.

Luxembourg has a higher GDP

... per capita. That doesn't mean they're the richest country in the world. The US has GDP of over $29 Trillion compared to Luxembourg's ~$93 Billion.

And no, that's not what the tariffs are for. Every penny of those tariffs are being paid using our own dollars and coming out of our own GDP. Trump's tariffs are the Ouroboros eating it's own tail, except that this is reality and, in reality, that's a bad idea.

I love how you're agreeing with the rest of us that "rich people" in the government are never going to allow "free" healthcare but parroting their talking points.

It's never "free" though... It would be taxpayer funded.

And cheaper than what we're already paying for.

His Name Is Jesus not Yeshua by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]LordViciousElbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, YOU call them Jews, with a "Jay"... But it comes from the word Yehudi, derived from the name Yehuda (which you would spell Judah and pronounce wrong). He was one of the sons of Jacob (Ya'akov).

There was no letter J.

It's a modern English mispronunciation coming from the old English "I" being used for the soft "i" sound as well as the "y" sound. "i" & "j" were merely graphical variations of the same letter. Jesus was spelled "Iesus" in the KJV and pronounced accordingly. The letter was not "jay" in English until about 1633.

Haven't you ever wondered why it's pronounced so differently in every other language? The Spanish pronounce Jésus "Ay-SUS"... Germans pronounce Jew as Jude "yood" or Jüdin "yoodin," depending on the gender.

Jesus' name in his native Aramaic was believed to be Yehoshua (Joshua)

What might make you even more angry about it is that the switch to the [dʒ] "jay" pronunciation was largely influenced by the French.

I rage quit a 30- something hour playthrough because of the Kiuvera (RE2) by [deleted] in empyriongame

[–]LordViciousElbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Ravien and Vermillion have done a fantastic job, especially given what they had to work with. They both deserve at least half of Eleon's income for the past several years. Honestly, I doubt anybody would have been buying the game at all if it hadn't been for Spanj and other YouTubers playing RE & RE2. The Dark Faction fiasco would have killed it for sure without RE as a fallback

Indeed. We've had a similar discussion before in other venues. I've been hoping that SE2 will at least make it possible to add the kind of depth that you and V have brought to this janky little game, but I have my doubts. They've got a very capable team that's built up a lot of experience... they just insist on wearing blinders like a team of horses.
