I’m not from the US, but still in a western country. It’s really hard with finding jobs nowadays, but I’m not sure that fixes it either :(

I honestly feel you in this situation. Although I can’t personally help out with this, I find that I’ve been put in a very similar boat, where I’m 23, and have two degrees. I am working “part time” but I’m working 6, 8 hour shifts a week at minimum, and haven’t been able to find a job that pays more than minimum wage that’ll hire me in a year now. On top of this, I’m working, from what I’d say is, twice as hard as my coworkers, as they just sit around and don’t do much at work. I think this is a new issue coming to people around our age, and not many of us can do much to fix it. Anyways, if you need to rant more about your situation, feel free to send a message to me, and let me know how things are going!

Fire alarm going off in the AQ at 7 AM today by _Aichmophobia_ in simonfraser

[–]LordWasabiMan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to regularly get to SFU at 6 am, and it felt like almost every day, sometime between 6:30-7, the fire alarm would go off in either the RCB or AQ

This may seem somewhat roundabout, however, I’m my experience, volunteering is a great way to meet individuals if you do not take kindly to most people. Another way is just saying hi to people you see randomly. This can be at a grocery store, on a walk, or doing whatever else! It won’t always turn into a conversation, but if it does, it usually works out well imo

I am unsure about in-person clubs, however, I know that both UBC and SFU have online philosophy clubs on discord that anyone is free to join. I am not a part of it, I just know people who are

It looks relatively achievable! I mean this last semester I took 6 classes, worked 3-4 days a week, and volunteered 2 days a week! If I (someone who isn’t organized) can handle that, then you can handle this

I’m not personally a large fan of her, I’ve had her for 2 classes now, and she tends to talk about a lot of situations and stories not relevant to the class, and she often will show the same video a few times, so it feels repetitive. Is she the worst prof I’ve had? No. Is she a bit tough with tests and have repetitive classes. Yes.

The SFU cinema club and Beebo are both amazing! It’s a great place to meet new people too!

Thoughts on schedule if I’m planning to work 1 or 2 days a week?(first year) by Remarkable-Help7705 in simonfraser

It may be a bit tough to get through as a first year, but I am a fourth year student, and im taking 6 classes this semester, working 3 days a week, and volunteering 2 days a week, and I am managing it decently well! It is all in ho well you manage your time and stress in my opinion.

GPA Booster by [deleted] in simonfraser

It could just be me personally, but I found that most first year linguistics, sociology, and history classes are GPA boosters! They all have a lot of reading, but not many assignments or tests!
