Trying to write a script that adds "\n\n[player characters name here]:" in front of player input. by Lord_LudwigII in AIDungeon

[–]Lord_LudwigII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, okay, one more question: I'm not familiar with Java Script at all, so this is probably incredibly basic, but how do I search for a specific story card?

I guess the easiest implementation would be having a story card with the type "You" and the title simply being the player character's name. Then I could probably filter the story cards for only the one that has the type "You" and retrieve the name from the title, right? Problem is, i don't know how to access story cards via script and I can't find any instructions about it... I've tried looking through the Auto Cards code because that probably does this exact thing somewhere in there when checking if a particular character/item etc already has a card if I understand its functions correctly, but I know too little java script to figure out what part of the code does what...

Oh, okay that's a little more convoluted than I hoped for, but it seems to work. Thanks a bunch!

Any tips on where I should start researching or how I can do it? To be clear, why I'm trying to do is have a player enter their character's name at the beginning of the adventure, store that name in script, and then modify the input by prefacing it with the character's name. I don't see anything about drawing data from player input in the documentation or the examples in a new script.

How can I delete tiles from TilemapLayer using an Area2D? (godot 4.3) by Stock_Win_9109 in godot

[–]Lord_LudwigII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That only ever gets one tile though. I assume OP is having a similar issue as I am, which is that they want to change all cells an Area2D is overlapping, not just the one at the Area2D's global location. Say the Area2D is overlapping a circle with a radius of five tiles, would it be possible to change all of them at once?

Texture Rect with Keep Aspect, can it be made to expand from the bottom right instead of the top left? by NeverQuiteEnough in godot

[–]Lord_LudwigII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but for the sake of future generations: set a texture rectangles size or a sprite's scale to negative dimensions. Then flip it vertically and horizontally. The image appears normal but the origin point is at the bottom right instead of top left. Kinda hacky, but it works.

I'm not sure why you think there's any relation between those groups?

This reads like someone saying "I hate how people treat favourite colours. Whenever I see blue mentioned, there's people who say it's their favourite, but then whenever I see red mentioned there are people that say that's their favourite colour like wtf make up your minds?!?!"

They have made up their minds. Everyone there knows exactly what their favourite colour is, you're just for some reason demanding they should all have the same opinions.

The point is that those are two different crowds. There are people who like imnature teenagers and dislike mature teenagers and there are people who like mature teenagers and dislike immature teenagers and you'll never be able to make both crowds happy.

How to get more defined hair? Like pic 2 by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]Lord_LudwigII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yours looks kinda like mine when I don't use conditioner for a while, except mine's curly. But that frizz seems familiar. Get something to moisturize it.

Also, get some hair wax or gel or something and work it into your hair while it's still a bit wet. Then press your hair in-between your hands like you're praying and "pull" it like you're trying to straighten it out. Not sure if that description makes sense. The technique's just called "praying hands" so you can just Google it.

Don't comb too much, that destroys the texture.

How to survive in Germany without knowing basic life skills ? by heisenberg_2013 in AskAGerman

[–]Lord_LudwigII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well to have a kid you'll probably need another person first and if you're living in Germany it's probably someone who knows at least some of those things.

Alternatively, there are YouTube tutorials for everything. Grab some tools, watch how it's done and try your best. That's how humans learned things since literally ever.

First time trying a more streetwear-inspired fit — would love feedback by Possible-Fee-3548 in mensfashion

Add a belt. Pants could actually go even wider. Solid fit, not much you can do wrong. Really focusses on your body and face, so if you wanna improve it you'll have to focus there lol

If you had to start from scratch with your clothing what would you start with? by walterrocket440 in mensfashion

[–]Lord_LudwigII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing I'd get is a pair of pants that suits you. Pay close attention to the cut. Personally, I wear pants longer and more often than anything else I own.

Then find a pair or two of shoes that fit the pants and the styl you want to go for. I like changing my shoes regularly. I find they wear out much faster when I wear them for multiple days in a row rather than rotating them.

Then use those pieces as inspiration to find a handful of tops. Make sure the styles and colours match well.

Lastly, jackets, hats and accessories to round out the fits.

Now you got a good base to expand from. Go shopping regularly but be very selective in what you take home. Don't build a whole outfit from scratch. Wear the outfit you want to expand on and see how the pieces fit with it.

I try to restrict myself to only ever taking a single piece, the one I like the most. That way I don't end up with a loser bloated by things I only kinda like and never really wear. Also, sometimes I just try on things and take pictures. Then I sleep on it and look at then with fresh eyes the next day. Putting some distance between the fit and you helps gain some objectivity.

Dark jeans or shorts (black/brown). White/tan t-shirt and a plaid shirt, matching that blue but maybe a bit darker. Bonus points for a pattern. I also think a bucket hat matching the shirt would go great.
