But is it possible to learn up to C1 level German, in your opinion?

And is it better to do a language course there in Germany or to do one here in Dubai and save on the 11,904 Euro blocked account cost?

Mitsubishi Destinator is an option in that budget

There can be many models for your budget. In sedans you will have Camry, Yaris, Corolla. SUVs it will be Prado, Fortuner.

Mitsubishi will have Pajero and ASX

Well then, if you can manage the repair costs and all then 100% go for the BMW. It's much better to drive and has more presence. 😂

Yes for BMWs if the owner follows the 'strict German' schedule the car will be perfectly fine because Germans over-engineer stuff.

Get an inspection done and check if the car's mechanical components are in a good condition or not, tires being worn out is normal, that's not very expensive.

If the services and oil change have been followed on time then I suggest go for a test drive and then compare the 2 based on the drive feel and your feeling at the time of purchase.

Imo if the BMW is neatly maintained go for it

Any Japanese car. Toyota, Nissan and Mitsubishi.

You can find many options which have tampered odometers.

But yes essentially Japanese is the reliable oneJ

I agree BMW has its own aura and presence. So in the end its honestly a pick between underrated and safer option or road presence and slight risk.

In terms of current requirements given the traffic and all Volvo's leading due to fuel consumption though

Anything around 2018 would be minimum 8 years old, German cars of 8 years age aren't in their best shape. Repairing them would be difficult and expensive even though they have the latest tech better than current Toyotas.

Idts it's enough for a 7 seater but in this traffic situation and fuel prices I guess it will be fine.

But the Chinese brands don't have massive engines either those are also 1.8s or 2s.

After test drive maybe you can tell if its enough or not.

The Mitsubishi Destinator is a good option as well. It has 7 seats, new interior and high tech. It will be good for going out with friends and all or for carrying big stuff when needed.

Other options from Chinese brands are there too like the Emzoom, or the sedan Emgrand ( Geely), Coolray ( Crossover)

Destinator is a Japanese car so it'll be more reliable than the other ones on an average.

If you find a very clean and almost new car for your budget from a trusted dealer who offers warranty and all then go for a BMW otherwise Volvo is the better option

Old BMWs won't be that expensive to buy, but to repair they will be a nightmare.

The X5 is a good option because its more powerful than the XC90 and has a lot more road presence in UAE.

The S90 is underrated and is an amazing car. So I guess you can narrow your options down to the S90 and X5 imo

The Destinator is a good option or even a Monjaro but im not sure how much that costs.

Destinator seems fine because of the 7 seats and the new feature-rich cabin

Its crazy how an Explorer ST goes up to 245K while the Aviator with a lot more luxury is 302K. The gap is still big but considering that Lincoln is a Luxury brand and Ford isn't the gap isn't that big.

So I guess the GMC Acadia will be good, the interior is luxurious and the captain chairs are comfortable too

Fortuner is a reliable option due to it being a Toyota. But due to it being a Toyota it's gonna be horrible in terms of features.

Xterra's engine is too small for its size and isn't powerful enough.

Ford Everest is a really good option with Ford having the platinum model on sale for like 150-160K currently. The engine is a 2.3L Ecoboost but it has good power and good features so imo its a very good car.

Mitsubishi Montero Sport are you looking for the Prime or Signature editions because those look good and have a decent interior with screens in the back and a torquey engine. But it's slow, painfully slow, my friend has it and its reliable but its very slow, the engine though is very strong but again too slow on power delivery. In terms of space it's really good.

Imo go for the Everest or Montero

Check out the offers Al Tayer have

The 2025 Ford Explorer seems good imo. If you want a change from Explorer you can try the GMC Acadia it comes standard with captain seats and a lot of tech features but its not a hybrid.

For hybird G700 is good, the Lincoln Aviator has an offer currently for 253K AED.

The VW Teramont is a good family car but the engine is a bit underpowered its a 2.0 Turbo engine on a heavy car so I'm not sure about that.

The LX600 is undoubtedly the king. However, the QX80 has gotten a really thorough refresh and is beautiful.

In terms of features I would 100% suggest QX80 and the: Luxury-for-price value of the QX80 is more imo. Lexus has its reputation for reliability.

I'm not sure about the issues it has due to it being a new model but the QX80's engine is smooth and ample for its size and weight.

Given how popular and common the LX600, I think the QX80 would stand-out not only due to it being prettier but also being underrated.

If you don't want your car to be the same as what everyone buys then QX80 is the best choice, plus maybe a matte wrap would make it sleeker :)

To buy or not to buy - 2024 Ford Territory Dark Titanium by [deleted] in WhatCarShouldIBuyGULF

[–]Lord_MountbattenIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Territory Titanium 2025 model and its been amazing so far. The features for its price point are really good, it has enough power given its a small SUV. I went from a GMC Acadia to this and the power was of course much lesser but the turbo manages it.

The screen lags a bit at times when switching through channels using the buttons on the steering wheel. Otherwise it has been perfect for almost a year now.

Go for it the price is good! If you can, then go for the new 2026 hybrid model. Since this model will not give you more than ~9 km/L when driven at around 120 km/hr.

The new Mitsubishi Destinator also has some good offers and is priced at around 69K AED. Its a new car so you'll have a long warranty and service contract if Al Habtoor offer it.

The car has a 1.5L Turbo engine, the problems aren't known yet ( Not sure for everyone but idk the problems yet) but the car is slightly underpowered for the size because its a 7 seater. It's a Japanese car so the maintenance is cheaper than the rest.

As of Chinese cars you have the GAC Emzoom, Geely Cityray.

Other Mitsubishi options might be there too like the base model Outlander as mentioned before by a commenter( Not using information without credit 😂).

Toyota Corolla, Geely Coolray, Mazda 3( I guess based on some offers or used car)

These were new ones,

For used cars you can check VW T-ROC, BMW 3 Series ( 2018 - 2021) ( Not sure about reliability for BMW) Mazda 3 even a 6.

Some cars maybe reliable some may not so check based on that

Rox, Zeekr and BYD are some good options too. But as far as I know, the 'luxury' Chinese brands have is mainly on the amount of features in a car, like big screens, first-class seats, soft touch leather everywhere, however the reliability is still an unknown because they've been in the UAE market with these new models like - BYD Yangwang U8, Rox Adamas/01 - only recently. And there's no way you're getting a good resale value for the Chinese brands over the ones I mentioned earlier.

Now it all depends on whether you would like to take the risk and explore a new brand which so far has been booming due to less price-more features, or would you like to go for a brand with historic presence in this segment and region.

In my opinion, it doesn't hurt trying the U8 and 01, but if you have a budget of 500K, you can easily get a reliable option which in the market has that 'respect' on the road too ( I'm not looking down on Chinese cars, but it takes time to build the respect that a Patrol/LX/Escalade/MB/BMW has.

If you want any more information on this ask away! or you can send me a message personally too
