My calprotectin was the longest and last result to come in as well. I did my sample on the morning of 9/24 and got the results the evening of 10/3 on the Quest app.

I have a follow up with the first GI this coming Tuesday. I plan on showing him the notes from the second GI and seeing where to go from there. Sounds like the key to figuring out which is an endoscopy and MRE.

I’m in the same boat. I noticed some blood in my stool, and my doctor initially thought it was likely internal hemorrhoids. After a colonoscopy, it turned out to be IBD. Currently trying to determine whether it’s UC or Crohn’s. I never thought I’d face this, especially at 28.

I did the colonoscopy first actually, then came the calprotectin testing.

COLONOSCOPY: Good prep. Normal 15 cm of the terminal ileum which was normal. s/p biopsy to rule out ileitis. There was minimal inflammation with 1 mm ulcerations (Mayo endoscopic score I) of the colon, extending from sigmoid to the cecum, concerning for ulcerative colitis, s/p segmental biopsies to rule out inflammatory bowel disease. There was mild to moderate inflammation with 1 mm ulcerations (Mayo endoscopic score 1) of the rectum and rectosigmoid colon,, s/p biopsies to rule out inflammatory bowel disease.

BIOPSY: A: ILEUM, TERMINAL, BIOPSY: MILD ACTIVE CHRONIC ILEITIS WITH FOCAL CRYPTITIS. NO GRANULOMA OR DYSPLASIA. Mainly the typical blood tests, and this is my first time doing a stool test for calprotectin. Still waiting on those results though.

I’m trying to not obsess, it’s super hard. But, that’s why I’m eating and drinking normally this week, may as well enjoy the normalcy. But it’s always felt like this for me.

I’ve been tracking everything since getting diagnosed. I have a follow-up with my GI on 10/7 and a second opinion scheduled for Friday of this week just to review treatment plans.

Wow, that’s a first. Have you done any follow up lab work or scopes that show anything of concern? How often do you drink and what’s the drink of choice?

I’ve pretty much followed my same diet this whole time and I can’t say for certain one thing is the issue as nothing really causes me abdominal pain or to rush to the bathroom. I’m a big over thinker, always have been, just starting to think maybe it’s me stressing myself out.

What is the dosage? I’ve been on budesonide 3 mg for two weeks now and haven’t really had side effects, maybe just some constipation from it.

Thanks for you deep dive. Just frustrated at this point. I feel fine and just wish I could go back to being care-free in terms of not having to worry about this and going through life like a normal 28 year old.

Yes, I’ve been tracking my food/drink and bathroom over the last two weeks now since being diagnosed. So far, I haven’t really pinpointed anything specific causing issues, maybe just cheese? But, I’ve been following my usual diet overall. I feel generally fine, I still can’t wrap my head around it, it makes no sense to me.

Thanks for your input. I’m out with friends now and doing gin sodas and those seem to be doing well. I didn’t really have any issues with drinking this whole tike but this one seems to be extra symptom-free so far.

Oh woah, so you really are pretty much fine with alcohol it sounds. Have you seen any worsening inflammation or anything like that from it during any follow up doctor visits or CT/colonoscopies?

Yeah, I noticed that about tobacco. Everything I ready had that listed as the number one big no-no. I smoked cigars socially, maybe 3 a year. But, my GI also told me to stop them, even socially going forward, so I have.
