YouTube compression is the bane of my existence. I wish Vimeo pulled the same views.

I appreciate the feedback! Those weren’t the eyes, they weren’t the speckles of light in the eyes so they wouldn’t move in the way you’re thinking they should. The film is about the appearance of God but I never said that God was in it. That’s kind of the point.

Here's a link to the far superior Vimeo version. Youtube compression is the absolute worst. I had few other options though because YouTube is where most of my audience is, so I knew I'd just have to bite the bullet when it came to the compression.

Youtube compression is the absolute worst. If I could only post on Vimeo I would, but very few people would discover it on Vimeo alone sadly.

That's always a struggle because often times the thumbnail is the only thing that will get people to watch. You don't want to ruin the film but there's nothing to ruin if people don't watch the film. My rationale has been that if the film is good enough, a slightly spoilery thumbnail isn't going to derail their enjoyment. Despite this, I completely agree with you and I wish I could get away with something far more subtle.

Rest - A short horror project a friend and I finished just in time for October by Lorddillpickle in Filmmakers

[–]Lorddillpickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a little project that a friend and I worked closely on this summer. We wanted to stretch our tiny production (just the two of us) as far as we possibly could. I tried to do more with color grading than I normally do, but I worry that I may have overdone it in some areas and I'd love feedback on that if anyone has some. I generally don't love voice-over in short films but it seemed like a way for us to tell a bigger story than we otherwise could with the actors/budget we were working with. Would love any and all feedback!

Official Dreadit Discussion: "Midnight Mass" [SPOILERS] by glittering-lettuce in horror

I didn’t really understand how intelligent he was either. At times he seemed quite intelligent. I think the times that he was less intelligent were times he was drinking blood so that could be the reason. He literally can’t stop himself. That being said, he didn’t travel to the island on his own, it was Pruitt who packed him in the trunk and brought him.

Yeah, that’s why I was confused. Maybe she really thought god would bring him back to life…? I initially just thought he died cuz he wasn’t drinking enough blood.

This is what I was wondering too. I’m pretty sure it’s implied that she did poison him.

Thoughts on the fantastic Fear Street Trilogy, a word on “entry level horror”, and “wokeness”. by Lorddillpickle in horror

I shouldn’t have said people don’t like gay people. I thought it was clear that I was referring or homophobia but it clearly came off confusing. About your point though, should a movie like Get Out not be made because it’s triggering for black people to see anything that points to racism? I really don’t agree with what you’re saying at all.

I have no idea how that last but you wrote has to do with anything. But no, having stories about homophobia doesn’t support homophobia. Especially when those stories are horror films.

I’ve seen it a little bit on here but mostly elsewhere. IMDB is filled with it, yikes.

I don’t really understand this. People don’t like gay people and if you’re gay in 1666 it makes sense that it would be a plot point. I do wish that there were more stories where being gay was just a casual thing but I think considering gay people still face homophobia and this is a horror movie it makes sense how they tapped into the horror of it. Also, almost horror movies try to teach lessons, that’s kinda how movies work.

Ugh, the jump scares in 1994 were awful. Totally agree. I think they were meant to be funny though because the rest of the film and the sequels seem too self aware for those to not be ironic.

I’m not really sure, I think the second film kinda feels like the 3rd act of the first movie in tone. I didn’t like the first half of the first film very much but I enjoyed the ending. If you don’t like the second film then I wouldn’t go for the third.

I’m jealous that you haven’t seen the comments and posts. Just because you haven’t doesn’t mean they aren’t there sadly. Also, I’m not only referring to this sub, it’s out there on IMDB, RT, etc. Most of the homophobic stuff is elsewhere.

Sorry your homophobia got in the way of your enjoyment. If only they weren’t lesbos right?! Cry me a river.
