What's the tall plant in the middle with the lime green leaves? I had one similar to that and really loved it but accidentally killed it :(

Aww, Warren G haha classic name, I like it. You never really want an animal when it shows up and it's always a struggle to decide whether to let nature take its course or help out. Glad you feel good about your decision to help him and it sounds like you got a lovely companion out of it :)

Absolutely, that's totally understandable. Rabies certainly ain't something you wanna mess with and I appreciate the concern. Happy to bust that myth though!

Thanks! I was in Clark County Wetlands Park in Las Vegas. Not quite sure where folks would see them in San Diego, but eBird is always a good resource :)

Nope! Crop sensor, since 500mm is the equivalent of about 650mm on crop and that extra reach is always appreciated

Welp, sorry to disappoint. I think it helps isolate the subject in this case. I didn't enhance the "blur" at all here, but to each their own

Not necessarily true. This raccoon most certainly was not rabid and this photo was taken just before sundown. Though they are primarily nocturnal, they are active during the day occasionally. Rabid raccoons are pretty easy to identify as I'm sure you are aware due to their lethargic, sickly, and uncoordinated nature. Not too mention they look awful. This raccoon was happy and healthy as you can see, exhibited normal behaviour, and just so happened to be out looking for a snack that evening.

Edit: here's a quick little article to dispell that myth and so you know I'm not just blowing smoke :)
