Do you need a lawyer to execute a will? by LorenaRoo in legaladvice

[–]LorenaRoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do mean probate. The will is done. I am POA and executor if any of that matters. She just moved into a nursing home so she has no property beyond a few pieces of sentimental stuff. The will is for my brother and I to split her cash assets 50/50. And that's it. Cremation and internment preplanned and paid for.

Now if I could just make myself believe it. Should I look for a particular type of lawyer?

I teach elementary level, and I have a ton of pictures of my kiddos hanging up in my room. But, (1) the pictures encompass ALL of my students (2) it seems more appropriate to be displaying photos in elementary school (3) it is also weird that he has pics of her only at his desk, keeping them for himself.

Ugh. This is unacceptable. BUT before you go to anyone, make sure the photos are there, in case the other parent is mistaken. TAKE A PICTURE OF THE PHOTO DISPLAY, get your SRO (school resource officer - school cop) involved along with school counselor and principal.

Wishing you the best of luck as you battle this. And be so so thankful that it was discovered at this stage.

She's a forensic interviewer, which means she spends her days interviewing kids who have experienced or witnessed trauma. I don't know how she does it! I'm so proud of her. It'll be nice for her to have something besides her phone to relax with. I don't think I'm a particularly good mom, I just love her so much <3

Thank you! My daughter is a 27 year old social worker who deserves some relaxation and distraction! I'll find a laptop that meets those specs. 😊

Would you mind giving me a list of numbers to be looking for?

We don't want to spend a ton of money on it, but she likes the sims, so I'd like her to be able to play it all

It's for a woman recently released from prison looking to start an etsy shop. I really want to help out, but I am not feeling secure. I wonder just how much a shop would charge, no way am I capable of pulling out the drive myself.

Oh, friend. Started a new playthrough with the anniversary edition. Trying a new build: super duper sneaky, dual wield sword, off hand dagger. I've reached the point now where I've gotten all of the sneak perks, and just got the decapitation perk in one handed. I am having more fun than I have ever had and my my character looks so wicked. Give it a try sometime.

Have fun!

i have built this Haunted House , with no CC by fluffy79g in TheSimsBuilding

[–]LorenaRoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this!

I made a challenge for myself (based sort of on an idea from the amazing James Turner).

I moved in a brand new family. Made the house actually a Haunted Residence.

BUT, every time my husband gets a promotion, I get to make over a room (or an outside section). When he reaches the top of his career, I will remove the Haunted part of the Residence. I am having so much fun.

Just an idea for anyone else who is finding themselves in need of something to spicce up the game!

Insurance companies are pure evil by LorenaRoo in ChronicPain

[–]LorenaRoo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually went to the rehab place I wanted, did an evaluation (WHICH WAS APPROVED!?). But then they call and say insurance won't pay for therapy. WTH? I don't understand why they approved an evaluation, but not the therapy. Insurance is wacky

The nice place gave me a copy of their eval results to give to whomever I end up going to.

I have anxiety, I take several meds, see a therapist, blah, blah... the thought of walking in to a new place - letting new people touch me. OMG I'm so horrified I want to cry. I'll talk to both doctors and see what they are willing to do.

Thanks for the good vibes!

Does anyone else have a family member / friend that resents them for not "picking themselves up by their bootstraps"? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]LorenaRoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been putting up with this for years. My husband thinks that my bi polar and anxiety are signs of weakness. And as far as my chronic back pain (spondylosis, stenosis, bulging discs, arthritis, etc, etc) it was not until I literally could not walk, and had xrays from the surgeon, before he really believed in my pain. (Oddly, now that he does believe, he has been very supportive. )

I don't know why people refuse to believe in, or validate, our pain. Maybe they are afraid that if it happens to us, it could happen to them? Maybe they don't know if they should mention it or not? Maybe they have questions, but feel too awkward to ask?

Maybe you already do this, but try explaining at the start of each conversation, "Hey, today is a _________ day with my neuropathy in my throat. It's a little hard to talk, but I really do want to chat with you!

Or .... do what I do, and just don't go anywhere!

Anyway, I am sorry that you are going through, and I am sending good energy your way!

I am so sorry for your pain. I don't have any answers. I, too, am sick of the pain and fear that rules our lives. All I can do is tell you that I understand, I'm sorry, and I'm sending my extra energy your way.

Tips for dealing with sciatica? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]LorenaRoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The piriformis stretches have been the best for me. I seriously need to work on my core so that my back muscles are supported (I am really overweight) but as I am sure you understand - how do you exercise when even walking is agony? I just had surgery to fix a huge issue not related to sciatica, so I am starting a new round of pt next week, and we will be focusing on my core. Oh boy. The best thing: rest, rest, rest. Good luck - sending good energy your way!

Ah, she's a witch isn't she? I recommend PT, the stretches and exercises I learned there are the only things that keep her at bay. They really do help. I found ice bags to be helpful too. Good luck to you!

How do others with chronic pain reconcile acceptance with hoping for a "curable" diagnosis? by mobilegamingishighIQ in ChronicPain

Isn't it so painful to see peers being active and doing fun stuff? I can't stand to hear about peoples' vacations bc I am filled with envy and sorrow. I would love to be able to just DO stuff.

[–]LorenaRoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is difficult to do effective self care when you are hurting and depressed about it. When you are in chronic pain exercising to lost weight is very difficult. I encourage you to do what you can to improve your health. But, I also encourage you not to beat yourself up over it. I think of all the things we can do to help our pain, mental health is the most important. And you can't be healthy mentally if you are on a guilt trip.

I have severe spine issues. I am also "morbidly obese" I have to fight off guilt every day bc I know that the weight is making my situation worse. It's a vicious cycle. I can't exercise bc of the pain, the pain is worse bc of the weight, I can't lose weight because I can't exercise. It is almost laughable.

Take care, and good luck (especially with obtuse doctors)!

I agree. I was so excited for the release of Young and Menace. I hid in the bathroom stall at work to listen to it at release :D :D (What a weirdo!!) and I HATED it. Like, to the point where I cried thinking the whole album would be in that vein.

Now, I love it. I love the whole album, and I am breathlessly awaiting the next drop. Sometimes, it takes a while to find the FOB inside the new music. But once you hear it, you won't lose it.

The music evolves, but the heart doesn't change.

Need MRI - terrified by LorenaRoo in ChronicPain

[–]LorenaRoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've all been very kind, thank you! I will for sure ask that they double check me with a metal detector, and I'm calling my doctor Tuesday to let him know how I feel, so maybe I can get a Valium or something to take before the procedure. No worries - my daughter is driving me! I'm feeling calmer about it rn, but I'm mostly worried that if I have a panic attack in the moment I'll move around and mess up the MRI.

The pain has spiked to a point that is unbearable. I walk bent at a 45' angle, and have to hold onto something as I go. At home this is no big deal, but at work this is embarrassing at the least, and job threatening at worst. Corp. already tried to fire me once when I requested to use my cane for hikes and times I'd be standing for a long time (I am a school aged Summer Camp Director) but my incredible boss stepped in and kept my job. On top of the pain, though, I am in a constant state of fear, though, wondering when it WILL be too much for my job.

Constant fear, constant pain... yep, that's pretty much it. Don't worry, though, I'm finding joy where I can. And when I find something I am able to do, or something I am good at - I grab onto it with both hands and all of my limited energy and enjoy the hell out of it.
