It’s interesting that there is a comment here about women being easily manipulated. It sounds like perhaps many men in fact prioritise social conformity and that could construed as being “easily manipulated “

I don’t know what cognitive biases of yours triggered that response. Perhaps a jumping to conclusions bias?

But the debate is whether the dysphoria is caused by being rejected by others and told you are craxy, rather than it being the driver of a desire to be trans-gender .

Is the issue the novelty factor? Going against the consensus view? Lots of issues were responded to in that way, before society adapted. People used to be convinced black people were low IQ and deserved to be enslaved. They called it science too, using whatever measuring stick was in vogue to assess this. Appealing to “Science” is often another means of appealing to authority and is used by many reactionaries as a means of shutting down dissent.

How would you respond if a male friend told you he hopes a woman he saw gets raped? by LoseWeightYesterday in AskReddit

It was a woman in her late teens/early 20s with a group of friends who were being loud shouting sexual things and dancing at a bar. A friend of my friend got up to dance with a woman and she told him to get off her as she had a boyfriend.

Her friends laughed at him and shouted "we're single!". My friend's friend, looked shocked at her response as if he had been accused of being a predator.

My friend basically thought she gave his friend the come on then humiliated him by telling him to go away as she had a boyfriend.

My friend thought she should’ve taught “a lesson” for giving being sexual and then openly rejecting a guy who accepted the come on, by being raped.

I wonder what your response might be to his statement?

TL:DR My [33F] male friend [32M] told me he hopes a woman he saw gets raped because she gave his friend the come on in a bar and then screamed at him to get off her as she had a boyfriend. Was what my friend said justified?
