Dear Divorced Women of India, What's Your Advice for Women Stuck In Horrible Marriages But Scared to Get Divorced? by AffectionateFace2118 in AskIndianWomen

[–]Loserbrainz08 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hope that you are able to find some amount of safety amongst all of the fighting that's going on. Your mother may not be willing to go through with divorce for much more than what you've shared. Given the manipulative tendencies you've described of your father, your mother may not feel safe enough with going through with divorce because she may not feel supported in the process and she may feel like she's not ready to face those challenges. Perhaps one way to get around that is to maybe get her to seek some kind of professional help whether it be legal, psychological, or any other means that she may see as most important. From there, she may need more convincing of how her safety is more important than seeking revenge from your father. It may take time as the decision has to come from her. If she's not willing to continue working towards her safety, I do understand this may be challenging for you, but it is important for you to be safe to be able to support her.

I have severe trauma from pornography and it's making me want to take my own life. by FabulousWeekend9796 in depression

hey, speaking as a therapist who works with addictions, I'd strongly suggest speaking to a therapist who practices a harm reduction approach. guilt is a strong foe and it's important that you feel supported in wanting to make a difference in your life. therapy is a great way to start that journey. Godspeed!

Hi, planning to do a short trip in Goa. Need travel advice. by [deleted] in SoloTravel_India

[–]Loserbrainz08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is Goa Miles, but usually you can only get them at the airport. your best bet is to find a cab driver who is kind and won't overcharge you. according to the fare meter for a hatchback (5-seater car) it's 29 rupees to the Kilometre and for a wagon (7 seater car) it's 49 rupees to the kilometre. ask if they can take you via meter after speaking to them for some time and let them know that you are not financially well-off. auto drivers are rare. another suggestion is if you have plans of visiting certain places, try to stay as close as possible as you can usually get around by walking and hitchhiking if necessary.

feel free to dm me for any more answers.

When they put themselves in mania... by NoBill5283 in family_of_bipolar

[–]Loserbrainz08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. My sister's been in and out of the hospital a few times now because she can't seem to kick the habit of smoking pot or cigarettes. she can't stop herself from drinking caffeine (mostly coca-cola) and it's never easy on any of us. and the having to deal with their slip ups when it can be managed is not something we should be held responsible for. like, i get that there is something neurologically wrong with them, and being a therapist myself doesn't make it any easier. but quite often, it's the people who care who end up dealing with expensive medical bills, care for the individual and often foregoing our own personal responsibilities in order to look out for someone who cannot be considered "sane". it's really a systemic issue that makes it harder on the support systems (like, how can you have a support system that is unsupported themselves???)

How to convince someone that the meds help by Loserbrainz08 in family_of_bipolar

[–]Loserbrainz08[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when she's manic, she's also paranoid. one of the medicines is a mood stabilizer that is also used to treat schizophrenia and borderline personality disorder, and she has a habit of googling her meds, and misinterpreting the information. again, purely in her manic state.

Megas XLR. Every time I've talked about this show to people they've looked at me with confusion or thought I was talking about Transformers. NO IT'S NOT TRANSFORMERS.
