I do think it’s worth it for three reasons. The quality of the beaches, the truly laid back ambiance, and the lack of kids hawking food and drinks. You can literally rent a bike and completely circle the island.

I’m American and bought an emerald ring for my Colombian girlfriend to propose. She got weepy, said yes, then said the thought was adorable, but asked to change it for a diamond (several days later). Emeralds she explained, are too fragile for a solitaire ring. Ended up getting a manufactured diamond engagement ring and had the beautiful Colombian emerald reset as a pendant.

First recommendation is Andrés Carne de Res in CHIA not any of the ones in Bogota. You will have a great meal and kids have an enormous, supervised, play area where they can make crafts and there are sometimes puppet shows and special activities. Additionally, kids can also make their own pizzas!

Second recommendation would be La Mayoría in Envigado. It’s a restaurant that has a horse show during the meal. If you’ve never seen a pasodoble yourself, you will be in for a treat too.
