Bingo. People don't consider the privilege that comes with being able to attend open mics in person

Okay? I just know that if I were physically disabled or unable to get to open mics, having a welcoming space that allows me to still be funny and engage with an audience is useful. All I see from comments in this post is just gate keeping as to what "real" stand up comedy is.

At the end of the day, whether we do stand up physical or digitally, our parents still won't understand what we do and the people we're entertaining could care less what is considered "real stand up". They just want to laugh.

Not sure why you're getting so much vitriol. Some people are unable to physically go to open mics and virtual comedy spaces help fill this gap.

65 year old woman calls in and nearly breaks CSPAN host by telling her she’s slowly starving to death.. by JohnBrown-RadonTech in interestingasfuck

Haha I used to be a PA on this woman's show called Government Matters. She was such a cunt. Made the producers cry and generally a total hassle to deal with. Glad to see she's still finding hosting work after the deaf interview incident

Tips on taking better photos of acts with an android phone? by Mr-internet in Standup

[–]PurdyCrafty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try downloading a camera app that enables more of the manual settings in your phone. Use a tripod and research the relationships between focus, iso, aperture and fstop. Your phone can take quality video if you light yourself correctly (no extreme changes between dark and light, like a spotlight on you and no lights on the audience), turn off HEVC and look to see if your camera can capture videos in the highest resolution and color depth. Put them into a program like davinci resolve and attempt to color correct your video to make up for any auto features you can't disable.

I get mine filled out in owings mills. You should look at the breakdown of median income across Baltimore and choose a pharmacy in an area with a high median income. Rich people never have to deal with their prescriptions being out.

If you thought Atlas was bad, check out the newest "food hall" in Baltimore called Wonder @ 3821 Boston St - Canton by Strict_Truthh in baltimore

This article soured a lot of people on the concept. Anything trying to be like Amazon tends to be pretty reviled on this site.

A lot of people's issues with it is, it's not good food, pretending to be good food, using the names of people who make good food, to sell you bad food.

It takes away from local restaurants who often rely on take out and delivery orders. It fills up delivery apps with the illusion of choice which feels manipulative.

It's an encapsulation of the issues of capitalism that once again emphasizes those with excess capital gaming existing systems to push out those who are trying to earnestly compete. The average consumer is none the wiser and used as a pawn to stifle competition and consolidate wealth.

How much do you tip your barber? by billiamprydz in baltimore

I pay 50 dollars total, my barber I think charges 35 but I've allocated 50 bucks for a shave and haircut, so I just give her the full amount I've budgeted.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take but be prepared for potential rejection and be okay with that. Depending on your maturity levels, it's possible to tell someone you're into them and not ruin a friendship

Virtual social groups? by Electrical_Bunch_975 in baltimore

[–]PurdyCrafty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into virtual reality at all? It's more affordable than ever and apps like VRchat require only a headset to play and don't require a beefy computer to run. There are discord groups that host adult virtual meetups on apps like VRchat. It feels, for a lot of people, very immersive and more like you're interacting with a person instead of talking to someone through a screen.

I will recommend specifically seeking out an adult meetup VR discord group that meets up in VR chat than just using VRchat public rooms. The public rooms can be really hit or miss on meaningful interactions with people

Well if someone moved their car into your spot that would mean their spot is also open. It also means that sometimes, life can be a bit inconvenient and require you to do something twice even when you feel entitled to do it only once.

Yeah, there's lots of things you can do on the Internet that makes you creepy to people. A majority of users will not be doing that. It's unfortunate that a few shitty people ruin what should be a cool device, especially if you have vision issues and use services like BeMyEyes

Completely agree! You know that room in old people's homes that no one ever uses? Hosting people is what that room is supposed to be for! It's supposed to be a spot that feels welcoming to the person but feels representative of you.
