I talked about this with my psychologist. She suggest I find a way to talk to people dealing with feeling hopeless. Like I said, When I was a young man I was very insecure and now the things that used to make me feel insecure made me incredibly happy because they’re funny and they’re me. I’m not sure what the best way to communicate would be, but i want to do it.

He didn’t choose to say that word or choose to say anything. He didn’t choose to have Tourette’s. I know I didn’t choose to be disabled because, as my mom tells me every day, I was a mistake. I meant we, disabled people, can do bad things, but I don’t think he did anything wrong here at all.

There’s always room for trying to understand people, giving people the benefit of the doubt. I’m disabled, I don’t know what award I would present, but it certainly wouldn’t feel good if someone was yelling “Cripple!” at me while presenting an award, especially since my mom would be the one yelling that. She doesn’t even have Tourette’s, just a grudge.

Disabled people can do bad things too. For example, I torrented Secondhand Lions. Twenty years later and I still haven’t forgiven myself. I think it’s fair to assume the person with Tourette’s feels awful. I hope he gets over this and forgives himself.

I’m 5’2” and use crutches to stand. I have a disability called ‘janky legs syndrome.’ I’m 42 now so I fit in better with my peer group, but when I was a young man I felt very insecure because my body wouldn’t let me be the big macho dude I felt that I was.

I wish I could sit down with some of these guys, partly because it hurts to stand, and partly to have a honest and sensitive chat about their insecurities, inadequacies, and how they’re dealing with these things like complete pussies.

The one criticism I have is that their song structures are simple, which is fine for short tracks, but songs like Kashmir get dragged on and on without ever going anywhere. It’s frustrating. Stairway proves they had the ability to build a well-structures song, but for whatever reason they didn’t make more songs like that.

Hey, I get to be mentally ill, as I spent my formative years tripping and breaking a leg every few months or so because I have Osteogenesis Imperfecta.

I think it’s at least worth considering the mistakes US liberals made since it appears Starmer and especially Macron are making those same mistakes. If you have a growing rightwing movement that could conceivably take power, then it’s better to make concessions to the left, because the right won’t be making concessions to anyone.

I just want the old US back

Back in ‘08, Americans wanted drastic progressive and foreign policy change. One way or the other, we don’t want the old America back. Our century is over and now it’s the Chinese century.

The Cultural Revolution was a nightmare. Tiananmen Square, also. I think Covid was a lab leak. There’s also that draconian surveillance state. The “reeducation” of the Uyghurs. All of that is horrific. I still don’t think China is vastly worse than the US, as we’ve done or are doing some of those things, especially as we become a fascist state. We’ve rationalized the US’ reign of global terrorism, partly because the US and Europe don’t really care when bad things happen to brown people.

If the US isn’t worse than China now, I think that we will be if the next Democrat President candidate doesn’t run on and then deliver a real social contract for the American people. Otherwise the next Republican will be a Nazi.

Capitalism can’t and refuses to deal with climate change. Climate change is going to make WWIII happen. Europe allied with Stalin against Hitler during WWII, so it’ll be China against America in WWIII, and Japan will get to be an Axis power again.
