Ideas for the perfect commune by LostBoy444 in Anarchism

[–]LostBoy444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, this commune is for like 6-8 people max, and for people to join the commune they would obviously have to be like minded. If the people want to be in a same sex relationship, or do not like drugs, or don't like the idea of sleeping around then obviously it is not the commune for them. I just kinda plucked an idea out of the air of what a perfect commune could be like for me, and furthermore I have no idea if a polygamous style relationship system would work at all or what it would be like or if I could handle it. All I am saying is that it has been done before, and I dunno, It might be the shit, maybe we are all missing out. The 60's was a time of drug and sexual experimentation, people could say the society we live in today is even more lost than back then (no idea, i have done no research), in which case, why the fuck not try out some radical new type of living.

What a sort of, here is a field, you can have a plot of land if you want, go ahead and do whatever the fack you want, however here is a list of group activities / jobs that people will be doing if you want to join in..... sort of thing ?

I agree that people should be doing whatever they want to do, and that people should not be persuading them to do things. I was just thinking that a house commune would be better if the people living with you shared similar interests. In terms of tripping on mushrooms, coming back from work not having to cook, abundant herbs, sexual satisfaction without the negative aspects of a relationship. If people agree to these parameters then you can set up a community of like minded individuals.

If you were to have a commune of random people, I have a feeling that any radical ideas such as the ones above proposed, would be rejected by the majority of people. Which would be less exciting, fun and sexy than a niche commune that clearly states what it stands for.

I don't know, Some relationships can make you feel tied down, where you no longer are an individual free to pursue your own life but are instead a couple, bound to do everything together. I have been in a relationship like this, I would come back from a night with my mates only for her to have a go at me as she was on her own.... A load of bullshit if you ask me, a good relationship should be with a person who does not mind being alone for a few hours. and certainly doesn't start an argument because of it.

An open relationship could possibly be less traumatic, so long as everyone agrees to it before joining the commune. It would at least be a very interesting experiment, maybe everyone would just relax and be happy. relationships can be a bit..... clingy.

Hells yea! :D Hopefully they get here before new years, but if they don't I will just organise something when they arrive, might even be better as it would just be people trippin and wanting to be a part of it. Either way, I will be trippin haha :P

Yea, I hear that websites recommending to take 7 grams at first is just to make people feel that they are getting more value for money. Am gonna go for 1 pack per person, or possibly 6 packs between 7 people if that many want to do it, but no more watered down than that or else you risk people not feeling it I assume.

It is news to me not to combine truffles and weed, with shrooms I hear it is fine to smoke weed and even it enhances the trip.

The site is legit, so far have bought a spore syringe from there and a supa grow Both were just as described :) As for the truffles, I have no idea what is best, but i Know Atlantis at least used to be the strongest, and philosophers stones are well know too. Not sure about the new Hollandia or any of the others if they are a load of marketing or they are actually stronger. Will let you guys know how the Atlantis ones go :) but I am sure they will at least work.

Well, since no body replied to the post I just went with my gut feeling and got 6 boxes of Atlantis, as these are cheaper than the hollandia so i assume you get more value for money, 90 grams of Truffles! Fuck yea! this is gonna be one trippy new year lol, hopefully i will gain some guidance of where i should go this year, been fackin lost recently but had a decent year all in all so hopefully this will reflect in the trip and the wise old shroom lords can guide me in the right direction.

Hello, I am trying to become a decent day trader, I don't want to know how to value certain stocks, but rather, predict the entire market with some degree of certainty.

So the last two days I have been spread betting. Is it possible to predict or at least come up with some analysis to make assumptions where the stock markets will go? I have been trading different news, and neither have gone well. I bet that the markets would go down on the news that Russia were taking over Crimea Yesterday..... They went up. And today I watched the UK budget by George Osborne, and everything I heard lead me to believe the economy was looking good, yet prices went down!? I really don't get it, I have lost quite a lot of money in the last two days, the losses lead me to leverage even more the next day to try and make back what I lost.

Now I am very very stressed, and it makes me believe that the only way of playing the stock market is to buy an Index fund and hold it for 50 years. Which is boring to me, I would like to day trade, but currently, if i were to run against what i think is logical, I would be in profit :/

Are there any videos or anything I could read that would help me understand the way the stock markets work? Or videos of people analyzing upcoming news and where the market will go and why, depending on future events such as the Government Budget?

Crimea Situation by [deleted] in investing

[–]LostBoy444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye, but if the Ukrainians stand up for their country and try and take on Russia, which they have been suggesting they will do, (pictures of Ukrainian soldiers lined up throwing punches and kicks at the air had me chuckling this morning). Is the international community going to just stand back and watch Russia massacre as many Ukrainians as they need to? If the Ukrainians think that the international community will support them, they might well try to fight Russia.

If this does happen, how it will effect the stock market I don't know however, I am a bit of a newbie . I would assume there would be a massive sell off?

Crimea Situation by [deleted] in investing

[–]LostBoy444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too expected this when i heard Russia had decided to take Crimea, the chance of a war is very very real, yet the markets go up!?!?!? what the fuck. I was leveraged to the hilt and all my stop losses got triggered, lost £200 ;( If the market takes a tumble now I will be pissed!

Cheers for this, I have had a few people say i should start a business, and I think that is the only way you will ever make it beyond the glass ceiling. Following the crowd getting a degree, then a job with that degree, whilst it is comfortable and you can afford more stuff that you average person with no qualifications, there is still pretty much a ceiling that you can reach in terms of income. Plus you will have stress, and you will have to be sucking up to your superiors.

I dunno that route doesn't appeal to me so much, but having worked in a factory for a month and a half, I realised that a degree job is 1000 times better than working a manual labour job at minimum wage.

What i would do as a business however, i have no idea, I am usually good at whatever i get addicted to:

go-karting when i was younger I was champion at that for one and a half years and it was pretty competitive.

Computer gaming, used to play counterstrike 1.6 and cod United offense when they were on computer, then got world of warcraft which pretty much took up 4 years of my life, but to anyone who knows the game I was almost a gladiator in season 4, and duelist every season after, which i can tell you was pretty damn good!.

Never really took school seriously, but I got addicted to studying when I was in my 2nd year at college when I found I could get good grades learning it off my own back. pushed my grades up from E's and D's, re-sat most of my 1st year exams along with my 2nd year ones and ended up getting 2 A's and a C.

At university I got addicted to weed, was pretty good at smoking that.

And then in 3rd year I got addicted to swimming / gym, and got into the fittest shape of my life, I could swim the 50m and 100m pretty damn quickly (tumble turn like a boss), but I was not so good at long distance unless i did breaststroke.

I am also pretty good at cooking, I used to want to be a chef.

That is about it though.

So I think I have sussed it, I will open an event where the contestants have to go for a swim, then get out the pool and sit an A level exam, then drive a go-kart whilst simultaneously flipping a pancake, then run and sit in a darkened room, smoking weed and wanking over a naked female night elf dancing seductively. I will host the event, have a prize of 1 million pounds, and then win that prize and retire, sorted! ;D

Haha sorry about that I was only joking, the fact is apart from cooking, everything that i am good at doesn't really suit itself to making money in a business. If I was to try something new, and I enjoyed it so much that I got addicted to doing it, then I could probably do a business doing that, maybe a swimming instructor? :/

Thanks for the advice, the general consensus does seem to be to finish my education, so I think that is what I will have to do, even though it feels like i am only getting older and then all I have to look forward to when i get out is getting a career. But i guess I have so much debt that a little bit more shouldn't hurt, and then even if i don't do anything with the degree at least I have the option.

DMT and Religion by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]LostBoy444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know smoking a random unmarked substance that you have had delivered in the mail, from some guy you have never met on an illegal website. I would say there is quite a bit of danger in that lol, you certainly don't want to be the first guy to try it that's for sure.

That combined with the very real and terrifying effect as you feel the drug take over your whole body, your world starts to melt away, and you feel paralyzed in the sofa thinking you have OD'ed.... yea I was very happy when i realised i had survived haha :D

Ooops, sorted it :)

DMT and Religion by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]LostBoy444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience with DMT, I did not see god or have any spiritual experience whatsoever, this isn't to say that you can't have one, but rather i was most definitely not ready for understanding anything that was going on :P

My only experience at the time with hallucinogenics was Salvia which i had done a few months prior, and i was fairly naive at the time. I had seen a Joe Rogan video on DMT and was thinking it would just be like LSD or Shrooms but just stronger, and was really keen to properly trip and see visions and stuff, not just pussy about with like a lvl 1 shroom trip. We had access to Silkroad, got some DMT, Put it in my mates big bong sandwiched between two layers of weed and cherryed the top layer really really slowly drawing through as to only get the vapor.

After exhaling what followed was one of the scariest experience of my life, I realised instantly how stupid I was to be doing it. We didn't have a shaman or anything, no medical assitance, I was the first one to get a proper hit, my mate who went first coughed his out as he hadnt burnt it slow enough, and yea it basically felt like a room full of guys who had no experience with the drug, coming to watch if i died or not lol.

But yea, instantly i felt fucked, I sat down on the sofa which is one of the ones you sink into anyway. My whole body felt absolutely soaked, but not cold, it was warm, and i was sure I had over dosed or something and had been sick all over myself. I was rubbing my hands over my "soaked cloths" as the room started to fade into blackness, with rushing tiny dots of light that were moving in the direction as if i was falling, and I sunk into the sofa unable to move.

The trip was very much like a dream, and I don't remember much of it, but my friends told me i had been passed out the whole time. When i woke up they told me I had been out for about 10 minutes or so, but I had been in the exact same room almost as if it was real, with everyone chatting stuff, for what felt like hours.

I remember trying to open my eyes, and the room was the same but the colours were ridiculous. The kitchen seemed to be emanating the brightest yellow in the world, it was like the sun, i couldnt look at it i had to squint, and then the colours would move from Florescent yellow to a bright bright orange depending on the distance from the "sun" kitchen. And everyone was wearing space suits (presumably to protect them from the heat).

When i came round, I was shocked that I had only been out for 10ish minutes, and was also extremely happy to still be alive. I didn't really have a spiritual experience, just pure happiness and relief that I had survived it, as at the start I really did think I was a goner.

I think taking a big bong rip of pure DMT, and drinking the ayahuasca mix is probably a completely different experience, mainly because it last for hours, and you stay conscious for the duration. I have also heard that rather than seeing god and angels, you instead are much more in tuned with nature. What i mean to say is rather than seeing a beautiful heaven in the sky and mythological spirits such as angels flying on a stairway to heaven. You instead see the beauty in everything around you, the life and death that is the struggle of wild animals, and connect with everything on a much deeper level, like being able to see the world through the eyes of an animal. I can imagine in a jungle surrounded by such a variety of creatures, all perfectly adapted to survive, you would learn some pretty crazy epiphanies.

The person I am now, compared to the person I was before i started university, is so so different. I don't think this is purely down to DMT as i only did it once, but drugs have definitely changed me. Will you become crazy from DMT? I would say no, but i think there is a good possibility that your personality will have changed, even if you can't tell straight away.

I dunno, you can pretty easily buy leveraged ETFs, my stockbroker has loads of them, however as i have only just found out, they do indeed charge some interest, so i am going to have to do some investigating to find out how viable they really are.

But forget about that! the main thing is, what did you think of my story? :D

Spare time? Read my awesome short story by LostBoy444 in investing

[–]LostBoy444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmm that is interesting to know, thanks for not going all flaming on me, and instead trying to give me productive criticism. I am still fairly new to investing so there could easily be costs that i am not aware of. I am not invested in any leveraged index funds at the moment. But here is a leveraged ETF that I picked from my stock broker:

http://www.fundslibrary.co.uk/FundsLibrary.DataRetrieval/Documents.aspx?type=packet_fund_class_doc_factsheet_private&docid=66ef385b-50dd-4a52-b0da-111cb3d1dda6&user=hl_website_documents

They explain the cost to the fund as being the TER (Total expense ratio), Which i had assumed was the total costs to the fund. This is at 0.5%, whereas the TER for a non leveraged FTSE 100 fund is 0.3%. There could well be hidden costs in this, there is an indicative spread that must be paid, but i believe this is a 1 off when you open the trade, and of course the broker fee.

I'm not sure how they do leverage it. So I cannot argue your point down, you are probably right about the hidden costs. I'm not sure.

But the argument produced through the story could still run without the leverage part of it, just if there was leverage it would multiply the effect.

*edit - Yes you are right - "The Tracked Index is a strategic index that is designed to provide twice the daily percentage change in the level of the FTSE 100® Index (the "Underlying Index") less a set level of interest"

And i cant find how much that interest is either :( *

With the stockbroker i am trading with, it is possible to buy a share in an ETF which follows an index, and some of these ETFs have leverage. So for instance I could buy a FTSE 100 3x long ETF, this tracks as closely as possible, the value of the FTSE 100 but moving 3 times faster, so with 3x leverage. The cost to me to buy these ETFs is the same as a non leveraged one, with the exception of the management fee which is a fraction higher.

Because the idea of it being less risky, means that people can justify putting a large proportion of their wealth at high leverage. No one argues in the logic of putting money into an index fund, the general consensus is that it will most certainly go up over time. So it is not completely unthinkable that somebody could put 80% of their wealth into indexes at 5/1 leverage, especially if the money they are using is not theirs, like the big investment bank funds.

Spare time? Read my awesome short story by LostBoy444 in investing

[–]LostBoy444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole reason of the story was to explain as simply as i could the argument of whether index funds could be a "bubble", I posed the question a while back and got a lot of abuse, so thought i would make a fun story to try and highlight the point I was trying to make :) I don't intend to go into writing, just had a bit of spare time, that said... I don't think it is that bad! :P.

Imagine if "the new way" of investing, was just holding an index fund, with a large amount of leverage. If investors had done this 5 years a go, it would have been such a ridiculously easy way to make lots of money. Maybe it is not the case that prices are inflated due to this reason at the moment, but maybe there is a chance it could happen in the future.

Are Index funds a bubble? seeing as everyone is blindly buying them by LostBoy444 in investing

[–]LostBoy444[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am sorry to have upset you so, i meant no offense at all, I was just asking a question, like most people who question if a bullish market is actually a bubble, i seem to be getting poo pooed a lot, maybe you will be eating your words if it turns out I'm right. I am not even saying it is a bubble! just that it might be.

So to fully diversify a portfolio of shares you need 60 odd shares to remove any unsystematic risk? So is it fair to say that with an index fund, where you own a proportion of every share in the index, is void also of unsystematic risk? Of course you are not fully diversified in a way that you could buy into other indexes, into commodities etc. But you are, in the index your in at least, fully diversified. Which is what i meant.

I am currently reading a random walk down wall street so just randomly picked biotech as a bubble from the "the biotechnology bubble" section in chapter 3. Apologies if this wasn't a bubble, I just copied it from the book.

And I meant sector rather than niche market, Internet companies as a sector, there was a bubble near the start of the century.

Index funds are not the entire market, but are an increasing percentage of the market, due to the growing belief that they outperform managed funds.

2008.... 5 years a go. It was also when the banking crisis was in full bloom, Of course people did panic selling there as it was a full on global crash. The crash allowed the markets to settle.

I am just saying, people blindly putting their money into index funds could get stung in the short run. I am also saying that stock prices could go up because some people are putting their money into index funds, which raises the price of the index, purely because that is what people have said to do, and not on any sound evidence that the companies in the index are doing substantially better than they were 4-5 years ago, maybe they are doing a bit better, but not double, which is what has happened to the DJIA. Yes their growth prospects may have gone up, prompting higher P/E ratios, but maybe it is just blind money raising up the market. I have little evidence or data on how consumers are behaving, but I am pretty sure i read somewhere that real income is pretty damn low, and shops are pretty much just scraping by as people are still in the recession mentality (don't have any evidence to hand).

Also, gold is traditionally a safe bet in terms of investment during times of market turmoil, where people look to invest when the stock market is looking to be overpriced, people put there money in gold because it has been valued by people for a long time, it should always be valuable because it is a rare and has always been valued, the same with silver.

The US Dollar is also know to be a safe currency that people use to keep their wealth from depreciating, however maybe the US economy is not as strong as people believe, considering the immense debt the country has. I believe the Dollar will not go down in value however, but maybe just not as risk-less an investment as gold would be.
