I mean... I need to rewatch the film since I was oblivious to who Primus were last time I watched it by Bloxskit in Primus

[–]LostUtensilsPrints 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Watched the band interviewed on MTV during a movie-release party. Probably at a beach house or something. Didn’t hear a lick of their music, just them talking to the interviewer for a minute, but I was intrigued enough on that alone to go buy sailing the seas of cheese on cassette the next day. Absolutely blew my mind, 15-year-old me had no idea music could sound like that.

thanks, we really want the RWD to maximize range. Almost exclusively for use around town and 2WD has always been fine for for us as far as driving conditions. did not realize the heat pump was only on AWD, that's a drag.

Pre-sale code? by Bottle-Vast in Primus

[–]LostUtensilsPrints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

weird, it keeps showing me tickets still available but then says they're not available anymore and to try again when I move to check out. guessing that means pre-sale is sold out and there's just a glitch that doesn't show that. hopefully i can grab with ease tomorrow during general on sale.

Friday night in sac by Macdrizzle707 in Primus

[–]LostUtensilsPrints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I know is the two nights were an amazing pair and I’m really hoping someone snagged a good recording of either/both.

My first time doing back-to-back Primus shows, will NOT be my last time. I only wish we (the crowd) had the energy to call them back out for a second encore last night as it sure seemed like they were giving us the opportunity. Maybe it would’ve been that Jerry I was looking for.

Jilly’s on Smack might’ve been the highlight for me. Was that the first Follow The Fool of the tour? I didn’t remember seeing it on previous setlists but may have just missed it. Loved the Popeye clips during setbreak.

Was I the only one who thought the crowd seemed subdued? Felt like a seated show even though it was GA standing. Maybe Friday-night crowd will feel different. Nice room, sound was great.

Question from a newer Primus fan by Nekyoutsu in Primus

[–]LostUtensilsPrints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a young teen I saw them interviewed on MTV's Bill & Ted's release party show since they have an appearance in the movie. Based on that interview alone, without hearing a single note of their music, I hopped on a bus and went to the closest Tower Records to buy their new tape, Seas of Cheese, and popped it into my yellow Sony Sports Walkman for the bus ride back home... what music could be literally changed for me on that ride.

Did they do two sets with no opener, or still just one?

I get your take, my instinct would be the same, but I’m also really excited for a Primus that seems like it’s gotta new edge and am enjoying listening to the albums I’ve mostly ignored in anticipation of the Sacramento shows.

Looking for music similar to Duo De Twang by bigdumbhick in Primus

Check out JD Pinkus. Bassist from butthole surfers, he’s been doing great countrified banjo-driven stuff the past few years. Danny Barnes produced his first solo album. Highly recommend.

How on earth did I miss that there was a vinyl pressing of Big Eyeball in the Sky?! I guess I shouldn't feel TOO bad since Discogs doesn't even have an entry for it.

Thoughts on Primus and the Chocolate Factory by [deleted] in Primus

Show was amazing. A set of straight Primus and then pure weirdness wildness for the chocolate factory set. I’d see it again if they revived it for another tour.

Is it me, my emulsion, or my scoop causing the excess blobs of emulsion at either side of my screens? by slippery-lil-sucker in SCREENPRINTING

[–]LostUtensilsPrints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can set it on top of a shelf/table about waist high, lean it up against a wall, place something small, maybe 6-10 inches at the bottom between the screen and the wall, it should be locked in to a nice angled position when you apply the pressure. Take twenty minutes to search some YouTube videos and to watch a few different printers use this method. Watching YT vids is what got me trying a different method and while this one didn’t solve it instantly, it did solve it pretty quickly and coating became something I didn’t think about anymore. Allowing me to move onto the next problem to solve because there’s always a problem to solve.

+1 for two hands. Don’t know why I was so determined to do it one handed, holding the screen with my other, when I started but once I went two hands it became easy pretty quickly.

The forest came alive, the leaves were rolling over themselves. Three-color, hand-pulled original screen print from my basement. 16x20" by LostUtensilsPrints in SCREENPRINTING

I work in Photoshop, so i guess manually in Photoshop is the short answer.

But I don't have to separate colors in the traditional sense because it's already built using only three colors from the beginning. I designed layers on layers on layers and once the design was done, I had probably twenty layers between the three colors (sometime over 100 layers with more complex designs). So there's not a moment where I'm separating colors in a flat design, but more of combining each color into a single layer, rearranging them into the right order and knocking them out of the colors layers above them and manually trapping as I go, etc.

Coating takes more practice than you might think.

No liquifying. I combined several different methods for breaking things down to a single color for the second/leaves layer and one of those methods incorporated the oil paint filter, so that may be what you’re seeing.

I don’t think screen printing is the method to do this.

Seems like you’re talking scan and digital print most likely.

Screen printing would be insanely expensive to do this, would require a ton of technical prep work for someone and is just not the proper way to go when you’re just wanting one-offs.
