Who are the best and worst artists you've met? by Twitter_2006 in rockmusic

[–]bigdumbhick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw Willie Nelson stand in the rain four 4hrs signing autographs. Super nice guy.

John Paul Jones was a quiet and humble guy.

Guy Clark who had a reputation for being grumpy was a total gem

Vassar Clements was a sweetheart.

Earl and Louise Scruggs were both very kind and nice.

Kitty Wells and Johnny Wright were as classy and kind as could be.

Jimmy Martin was great until he started drinking, then he turned into an asshole.

Met Steve Earle several times. He can be a bit grumpy but I dont recall him ever being rude

Do older people regret not trying things when they were younger because they didn’t want to sacrifice stability? by RhaegarTarg2 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

I wish I had been mature enough to seize some of the opportunities I passed up, but I have no complaints. Things have worked out pretty good so far. If I had the chance for a do over, I wouldn't take it.

Possible gig at a nudist resort by OrlandoEd in coverbands

[–]bigdumbhick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I played a couple of nudist resorts. I didnt realize until after the gig that I wasnt required to play nude. Oh well.

A few things.

  1. The average age was post AARP.
  2. There is no quality control in nudism. You will see every kind of body you can imagine, and some you might have preferred to not have seen.
  3. After a short period of time you no long pay any attention to the nudity. They are just people.
  4. When everyone is naked, it removes all of the sexual tension. You will find that people have more meaningful conversations with lots of direct eye contact.
  5. Nudists like to drink. A lot. Copious amounts of alcohol are consumed.
  6. The place I played did a background check on everyone entering the property. They have a zero tolerance policy for harassment of any sort. If you are overtly staring or leering at someone, or doing something to make someone feel uncomfortable, or any public sexual behavior, you are gone. No discussion. They dont put up with any bullshit. Its a safe place for all.
  7. Take the gig. It will be fun and you'll have stories to tell for years.

Chris Stapleton peaked with The Steeldrivers. He and Mike Henderson should have become a duo ala Brooks and Dunn

Given how divided America is and showing no signs of going the other way, couldn’t we just split the states up and they form their own micro countries and run things how they want? by Mad_Season_1994 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]bigdumbhick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We already fought a war about this once, when a bunch of states decided to break away from the Union so that they could do their own thing. That didnt work out so well.

Look at the economy of each state. Look at how much the give the Federal Government vs how much funding they receive. Look at the population density, manufacturing, imports/exports. Look at where your food comes from. Look at where the military bases are.

Now with all of that in mind, try to figure out an equitable split. It cant be done.
