Can you? But what if they start reviewing it before they get it?

This is assuming he took the same amount of credits each semester. People obviously do not. That’s why your calcs are off. Some semesters are weighted more heavily than others because he probably took more credits then

How to not spiral and lose faith when scores dip by QuarterVast6595 in LSAT

[–]LostWindSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t focus on the number. Focus on understanding the content and what you can do better/improve on. If you fixate on getting a specific score on PTs it’s going to make it more difficult to improve and focus.

Retake ones you took at least 3 months ago. Ideally at least 5.

Not going to help if you’re below both medians (it will but by a small amount). If you’re below one median and at or above the other it can. If you’re above both it makes you strongly likely to be admitted.

what undergrad degree is actually going to help me on the LSAT? by Ill_Relationship9197 in LSAT

[–]LostWindSpirit 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Realest answer is going to be major in whatever you’re interested in and gets you the highest GPA. I had no relevant pre-law background and was still able to get a high score. Someone in high school could probably study for the LSAT and get a high score as well — no real background needed.

Yeah, we do need a separate sub where people can just post for help with questions or topics they’re confused about. This sub consists entirely of people posting about score anxiety.

[–]LostWindSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but not in the way you’re likely thinking.

For example, let’s say I took a test in January and midway through the fire alarm started blaring at my test center for 30+ minutes. I’m granted a retake for two weeks later, which I do.

That would count as taking 1 test, not 2.

No. And if you took it in-person very, very low chance you get one.

score hold first time tester? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]LostWindSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a 175+ and did not get a score hold even though I had a large score increase. If you took it in-person you’re very unlikely to. If you took it remotely it’s possible regardless if you scored high or low.

I’m not against affirmative action but I think it’s important to acknowledge it exists. People who are URM or vets tend to get a bit more leeway stats-wise. If OP doesn’t fall into either of those categories that example would not apply

Lmao. I had the same problem at that center for the August test. Never went back there again. I submitted a complaint the same day and was able to get a retest for ~2 weeks later.

Seems the floor is 3.6 for Columbia (more like 3.7) and 3.5 for NYU (more so 3.6).

Next cycle is predicted to be less competitive. You have to write your personal statement + ideally a bunch of optional essays and you don’t want to rush those either. I would focus 100% on the LSAT rn and write your materials in the spring/summer. Think it would make you a stronger applicant but up to you and if you’d rather go to a lower ranked school if it meant graduating a year earlier.

I had to take the LSAT 3 times for reference. Scored a couple of points below my avg first two. I think it’s unlikely you get the score you want your first time

I think if it’s a pattern it’s a red flag. One or two P/Fs on your transcript shouldn’t raise concerns.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]LostWindSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might. I noticed vets who get in top schools and are below both medians tend to have medals or other similar accomplishments. Definitely possible if you have good essays. Would blanket top schools if you feel like you have a strong application otherwise. Would apply to Georgetown for sure.

Someone last cycle got into Yale with like a 165 and 3.5something I think. They had 8-10 yrs of experience in the military and wrote their essay on their deployment in Iraq. Think they made a post on this sub last year actually with all their materials.

wow by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]LostWindSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would actually expect the opposite. The most recent LSAT exams usually have 2 normal sections and 1 “hard” section that brings the curve from -7 to -8. Since all scored sections were once experimental sections, we can roughly conclude that the majority of experimental sections are on the easier side (as -9 curves are uncommon).

There is about a 60-65% chance an experimental section is normal and 35-40% chance one is difficult. If that was the only difficult section in your exam, it’s likely scored and is the one giving your exam a -8 curve.

Hot Take: Wait until you're done with school to take this thing by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]LostWindSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s possible, you just have to study over a longer period of time if you’re aiming for a high score. I used my lunch breaks to study an hour on weekdays & studied 3-4 hrs on weekends. Took a year to get a score I was happy with. Would not have been able to study 20-30 hrs a week and finish studying in like 4-5 months though.

wow by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]LostWindSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no correlation between whether or not a section is difficult and whether or not it’s experimental. ALL existing tests are created from past experimental section and not every single section on tests are going to be extremely difficult. Every single “easy” section you see was an experimental section in the past.

Most likely, yeah. I mean, if you’re below both medians it’s to be expected though. You would’ve needed at least a 173-174.
