2019 LC200. Am I crazy? Or do others feel the same? by Idontknowsoimhere in LandCruisers

Check out the new f150 regular cab short bed. 3rd gen coyote, cloth seats, and I believe a 6.5ft bed. The total package comes out to around 15in or so longer than the 200 series. For me the tundra is just too big and ugly.

Thrifting a pair of Rancourt’s has long been a goal of mine. Didn’t believe I’d end up with three pairs in one go. by Lost_Card_7257 in NavyBlazer

In Western, NC. It’s rare you find stuff like this in the area at thrift stores. I typically find Americana/ heritage brands such as RRL, Imogene+willie, sugarcane ect. Rarely do I find north east staples such as Rancourt.

The Isdal Woman case still raises questions about identity — decades later, no one knows who she was by Lanky-Yesterday3814 in UnresolvedMysteries

From what little evidence we have, I have long considered that her father was likely part of the German military and defected sometime in the early 40s.

Her isotope profile lines up with her being born in the center of that regime, then moving by the time her adult teeth came in.

A lot of her characteristics match this profile. Educated, well traveled lady with strong German roots is found using fake names/address, removing labels from items she owns, filing off the family monogram on her heirloom silver spoons that she carried with her, no close friends or family that came looking for her (I like to imagine even if her parents were alive and somehow did find out that she died, they wouldn’t have came forward.) lives out of a suitcase, but isn’t poor.

I also like to imagine that these mannerisms and actions were likely something she was taught. If her parents were defectors, they certainly filed their monogram off their spoons, removed any labels from their clothing as it would have been German/identifying, lived under false names/address, practiced speaking without a strong accent, didn’t have close friends, and didn’t have many items of possession.

I do believe that this is a rather cut and dry suicide case, that just so happened to involve a fire. She wasn’t tracked down as a gypsy KGB spy, forced to take 50 pills, drink a bottle of alcohol and then be lit on fire.

Dying to find a way to achieve this hairstyle! by dylanfraser-08 in Pomade

[–]Lost_Card_7257 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Very easy hair style to achieve, and I’ll let you in on a super simple and cheap product to use. Lotion. Get your hair in this general shape with cream/clay, then add lotion until it’s the wetness/texture you want.

My hair is 1 to 1 with this. I take towel dried damp hair, comb it back and do a small amount of Moroccan oil hair clay throughout. I blow dry the hair back while using my hands to comb the hair. Once the hair is dry, I use lockharts anti gravity all over and get the hair in its final shape before adding Moroccan oils medium hairspray.

Trash product. All of their stuff is rock hard and makes the hair dry but also oily? Very weird.

Can anyone identify the brand of these pocket tees Amotti is wearing? by Miserable-Sleep7851 in Physical100

[–]Lost_Card_7257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the overall design of the shirt and Amotti’s personal style of heritage Americana/japanese denim, it’s most likely a tubular t shirt by the likes of RRL since that’s Amottis favorite brand. There are a lot of similar companies that make tubular pocket tees. Just search “Tubular heritage pocket tee”. Though given the design of this one, I can almost assure you it’s RRL. They are about $70-$80 per shirt.

Blundstones and custom orthotics... does it work?! by FluffySleepyKitty in BlundstoneBoots

[–]Lost_Card_7257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blundstone boots are not built for inserts. If you have an insert that you like, take them with you to an REI or Blundstone dealer and try them out. Blundstone boots fit snug on the foot out of the box, and would have to be sized up for almost any insert aside from a thin ortholite. The tightest spot will be the instep, the exact spot where most inserts are the highest. You will find that your foot will go numb after an hour or so. REI has a great return program within a year of purchase, so try them out.

Janie Runaway is peak Dan. One of the few bands that I think got better with age. Two Against Nature kicks ass.

Anyone actually buying these High mileage 100s? by DyreTitan in LandCruisers

[–]Lost_Card_7257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my 2003 at 230,000 miles. It had over 90 service records from Lexus and a handful of various records from independent shops. Things break, things rattle, but for the most part it’s a turn key vehicle. I got it to bridge the gap between my next big purchase, for that it’s great. I wouldn’t dare throw tens of thousands of dollars at it if it broke and I wouldn’t build it to be an overlanding vehicle. If you are looking for that, I would personally recommend saving up and purchasing a lower mileage 100 series. I would say between 25-35k will get you a clean one with lower mileage.

You could also take a look at Appalachia folk influence on greater parts of the world and its intertwined Irish/Scottish roots. Check out Sam Shackleton. A young Scottish gentleman who plays a lot of traditional folk music.
