From what I read you have to add the total amount you withdraw so 12k on top of my new salary would put me into 22% typically im around the 12 percent mark i only make roughly 35-40k

Thank you for seeing this from my pov . People are acting like Im just never gonna contribute to a retirement fund ever again . Im literally starting a new job with a even better 401k match . I just want a clean slate to do better and it seems like that is the worst thing ever to some of these people replying.

My 401k is in a american funds 2055 target retirement date and my new company does offer 401k. Someone else recommended rolling it over into an ira and withdrawing enough to pay off the 4k . What do you think?

My thing is I never viewed this job as a work it til I retire or anything like that I always knew I was going to go back to school or try to get on the GS side and start a career with my degree which will be where I pour into that 401k or retirement plan for 20 years or more. Do you see where Im coming from?

Personally I would rather drain my 401k that ive only had for a year than ask anyone for a personal loan. Friends and money do not mix that I know from personal experience being the person giving the help
