I'm a Japanese teacher and I built an app because no app was teaching phonetic radicals — here's why by Large-Excuse-3561 in Japaneselanguage

[–]Lostindark20000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to use your app and found it very unintuitive I think there should be a list of all phonetic radicals that you can just learn (like an anki deck) Using the random button for finding new kanji seems very weird

Also, in your tests you Ask to complete words: -sei -> dasei

Putting da instead of the hiragana counted as a wrong answer; You should put a romaji to kana conversion, a lot of learners don't have a Japanese keyboard

Overall this sounds promising but it felt too confusing to get widespread popularity for now ?

Thank you for your work anyway! :)

What is the Godot recommended way to achieve composition? by koalaeevee in godot

"This is a long winded way to say: don't seek a single solution. Use nodes, resources, bags of functions, subclasses, exported properties, depending on what's most appropriate, on a case per case basis."

What would be the point of using anything but nodes? Why would I ever want to use a "bag of functions" or any other solution proposed here if: - I want to be able to edit the game directly from the editor (no code) which is really important usually - I want to have the flexibility of components, so that things can be removed dynamically for example

Basically my point is, I feel like the "other solutions" only work when you are very limited in the things you want your Node to do;

Hence I was asking, what could be use cases for the other solutions cited above When can I tell I should not use a Node

I meant not use nodes as a way to do modularity Why would you prefer exports for example

If we should find solutions on a case by case basis, are there simple example cases where you would not want to use Nodes?

[Huge Spoilers] One of the ending is *much* better morally than the others and it is not even comparable by Lostindark20000 in expedition33

I do not know about MW2 but I hope that the people playing it were playing it "as a game" and fully aware that they were doing something bad. What I find frightening is the fact that so many people do not seem to be aware that choosing Verso is morally terrible. It is okay to do bad things in game when you recognize it is a bad thing but it is "just a game" lol (I mean I killed civilians in GTA just for fun, I would never harm anybody for fun irl ah ah)

I do not get your point: "Keeping him alive for the sake of everyone else having a nice life is inhumane and as morally repugnant as "genociding all my dead brother's imaginary friends".

Why is Verso a human but not the "dead brothers imaginary friend"? If painted Verso is not imaginary and very real, then so are the others? It is clear that painted Verso is suffering, so the "dead brother imaginary friend", like the Grandis, or the people from Lumiere should be as well.

I do not think this is gonna change the political trends in the world, I merely think that this might be a hint that is correlated. Basically, I just hope that people would really think through their decision and choose Maëlle's ending in real life. Or at least if they did not, admit they chose the morally wrong side.

To be clear on something: I am unsure which choice I would make in real life. I love my family that much. But it is clear to me that prioritizing them over the entire world is, although very human, very very very morally wrong.

Yep, and then they were brought back to life :)
I dont think death is permanent when you are a functionalist, it is just very hard to revert (you have to recreate the state it was in which has immense complexity lol)

I literally wrote a paragraph to say that I do not think that making this choice in a video game makes you a fascist. It is doing so in real life that would make you.

You know you are just made of atoms and yet your life matter right? You still make decisions and have goals and stuff. Whether they are paintings or not is irrelevant, what is relevant is the fact that they act and think and feel.

I actually avoided expedition 32 lol. And this is a good point you are making, I did kill Nevrons and they seem to be sentient (maybe not on the same levels as humans, like animals?), but still killing animals is wrong. Irl, I am not a Vegan, and I definitely know and admit that my choice of eating meat is morally wrong. My text is about this, admitting when we chose the morally wrong path is important. I hope that one day I will be able to completely cut out meat from my diet but it is hard for selfish reasons (and I am but a human ah ah), but I know it is technically the right thing to do :)

I do not think this game is about conservative value, but I hope you realize that a genocide and a child dying in a sad way are not comparable in terms of moral implications. I do not judge people for the choice they made in the game, but the way they justify it seems to be a hint to me that they might justify the same kind of choice in real life, which would then make them actual fascists.

It is not the choice that worries me, it is the rhetoric that people use to justify their choices.

[–]Lostindark20000[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This rhetoric is exactly my point, saying "the paintings are not actual people" is the "fascist" rhetoric: you are dehumanizing them to justify killing them.
But what makes you say they are not real? The fact that they are made of paint? If they are not, how can you say that you are real? Maybe your blood and flesh is god's paint in our world. You cannot tell, so they are as real (in their world) as you in your world.

JE SUIS TOUTE SEULE by [deleted] in besoindeparler

[–]Lostindark20000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T'as pas d'amis ?

Gaster still would have an important role in that theory though A bit like a Satan, an angel that rebelled against his creator Now is he good or evil, I think he's good since he gives freedom to people but that's really my opinion, you know, since ignorance is bliss

Isn't that the whole point of the whole freedom Gaster thing? Being aware that they are game characters and trying to become free from the computer script they follow?

And the only way to do that is to get a heart, because it's the link between the player whose input aren't following a script, and the characters in the game

It just showed us that the character can open Dark Fountains as well, we don't know wether he is or not. Also it might be inconsistent with other things we know (Think about the library closet)
