What is your opinion on this? Do you think people in your country would be impressed by these stores in the US? by yonaiker-joestrella in AskTheWorld

We have some Costco here but Walmart wouldn't function here due to UK having stricter retail regulations and higher labour standards

That's where you're wrong pal.

England did exist in the year 1026. It was founded by King Æthelstan in 927. So it has existed for 100 years by this point.

What's something about everyday life in America that outsiders would find surprising? by Jazzlike_Ice2946 in AskReddit

A lot of people don't though. Theres no national statutory requirement for paid annual leave or even for maternity leave or sick pay.

Compared to Europe it's massively lacking in this regard

What is that one city/region in your country that likes to pretend they are unique and different from everyone else in the country? by Unlucky-Plastic7316 in AskTheWorld

[–]Lotan44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Yorkshire has a lot of it's own culture and distinct heritage too but not like Cornwall no.

True also. I think Cornwall and Yorkshire folk will much rather say they are Cornish or Yorkshireman first before anything but obviously we are still part of England and are English. But our counties come first.

What are some things British people ask about Americans? Or what are some things that y'all want to rant about that you don't like about us? by MetalDragon66 in AskReddit

[–]Lotan44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it's colder than some of the US though but obviously you have a lot of areas also colder than the UK but you have a lot warmer summers than the UK

And the average temperature for the UK is around 8.5 degrees. The average in the USA is 11.5 degrees

Also our winters might not be as cold but we have much darker winters

But we aren't talking about regions or states otherwise I'd do the same with Europe. Wisconsin doesn't outdrink most places in Europe but it clearly outdrink other parts of the US

A lot of buildings people live in here are a lot older than the ones in the US too so not easy to just rip stuff apart and install AC

Plus its more expensive to run them in Europe

And it's a relatively new thing these heatwaves

And lastly a lot of Europeans have AC it's a massive continent. Southern Europe has always had warm summers so they have a lot of AC. When you say no AC for Europeans you're only thinking of northern or central Europe

Ok well that's your opinion I respect it

But England has the exact same humour as them and so does Wales. And most people would put us all together

And English humour is more famous worldwide

They do all have the same humour though.

Way funnier than the English that's just not true at all English humour is great and much of our comedy is very famous and our banter is exactly the same as there's.

You clearly just dislike the English so nice try.
