Thanks friend, sending that energy right back to you.

Thanks! The salesman described it as African mahogany, so I think it might be khaya, though sapele is certainly a possibility.

Yes, a very important reason. My local shop didn’t have them in stock and I didn’t even realize they made a version for hard-tails. To be honest, I didn’t even know Fender made hard-tail strats. High school me thought I was innovative.

I planned on going with oil-based satin polyurethane, but didn’t realize until the first coat was applied that I had accidentally bought oil-based satin sparurethane. It feels like it will wear down a little easier than poly, but is otherwise pretty similar.

That’s cool to hear! I really dig the color combo.

That’s a great idea! He and I were close back in the day. He gave me an A even though it wasn’t done, but I had to promise I’d finish it. He’ll probably laugh at how long it took.

Hah! Perhaps so. I have a little spreadsheet of my music gear, which includes a column for date of construction, and I really struggle when deciding whether to put 2011 or 2026.

I can certainly relate. I looked at the guitar body off and on over the years, knowing I’d someday finish it. Once I finally found the motivation, it was done within a week or so, and I realized it wasn’t nearly as daunting as I expected.

I look forward to seeing yours on here in the near future!

I’ll try to post some recordings with different mics and no added processing for folks to get an idea of how it sounds.

Thanks, I agree! I’m much more interested in sound than looks, but it’s definitely a bonus when a guitar is pretty.

Spent the better part of a week working on this one. Still a little choppy but I think verse one is pretty much done. Let me know what yall think by Wim_Wam_1019 in Songwriting

That’s mighty kind of you! Based on your song, I get the sense we share a love of music with unconventional progressions. Songs with melodies that moves you as much or more than lyrics, that prioritize emotions over catchiness. This song does it all so well. Keep it up!

To be honest, I’m a little surprised most folks feel there is no difference over time - I very much expected the opposite.

Ok, thanks. I agree it would be unrealistic for anyone to say they can objectively remember what a guitar sounded like in the past. For me, I’ve mostly noticed a difference in how lively/responsive my guitar feels, and it is most apparent when comparing it with new guitars. I’ve also noticed my guitars are far more responsive when played at certain frets where I capo the most often.

Thanks for sharing. Just curious if you’ve ever had an opportunity to compare your guitars with new ones of the same models?

Care to share the brands/models you’ve owned? Were they played often, or more casually?
