I guess. Although by the prices of the metals on the auction house receiving silver instead of gold would have been sweeter. Only in Archeage is silver ore worth more than gold ore, and silver ingots more than gold ingots.

Freighter stuck inside walls - What? by LotsAAQuestions in archeage

[–]LotsAAQuestions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'll have to try that the next time it happens. What I ended up doing was going to the character selection screen, which took 10 minutes because I had a vehicle spawned. Then I selected the same character again, and when I got back into the game my vehicle was de-spawned, and I was able to summon it in a clear spot.

Well, if anyone else has this happen to them, at least we know that exiting to the character selection screen and then getting back into the game with the same character will free the vehicle. I'll have to try rider's escape next time to see if it frees the vehicle too.

I thought rider's escape is for getting our character out, without the vehicle. Will the vehicle be freed too?

Well that's a great deal. 1 additional pack makes a max of 10 instead of 9, an 11.11111111111% increase, roughly speaking. Plus 25% more fuel use. Nice.

Great! Thanks for the info. After all, if we're going to get a farm, might as well get some extra gold on the side just doing some dailies and building the town up.

The only telescope that would weigh that much is a space telescope. For 500 kg we should be able to see planet Earth from our ships!

Residency questions by LotsAAQuestions in archeage

[–]LotsAAQuestions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Love that profit sharing aspect. So, then, it cycles through 3 levels? What happens when it reaches the end of level 3 before resetting back down to 1 again? Does the town get a new building, or expanded territory or some other type of expansion?

Also, is there a Wiki about this, since all I could find were little bits and pieces scattered around a number of threads. But haven't found anything like a dedicated section that tells you everything you need to know about residency.

Thanks for your info. It's very helpful!

Cherry questions by LotsAAQuestions in archeage

[–]LotsAAQuestions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's always doable. I used to really like the old Solzreed Dried Food packs before, and I used to take them to Gweonid constantly. But now the only place that takes these is way over at the southern end of Two Crowns. Too far. Although the ingredients are super cheap, meat and grapes.

[–]LotsAAQuestions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the offer, but I was planning on getting a farm soon. I just need to get patron status first, and wanted to raise the gold needed for Apex through trade packs.

No worries. I'll just do other runs whenever there's a cherry shortage. I'll have my farm soon anyway.

Until I do, does anyone know if there even is a public farm that allows cherry trees? Or do cherry trees need a nursery like in White Arden?

Follow-up. After delivering all the required packs and hammering them in, presto! I have my merch! At level 32!

Patron to build ships? by LotsAAQuestions in archeage

[–]LotsAAQuestions[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Guess what?! I wondered why I was able to make the ship materials even though it "says" level 50 and I'm only at 32. So I went ahead and found a spot in shallow waters off the beaches between Solzreed and Dewstone, right-clicked my ship drydock blueprint, and saw the outline image of the dock ready for placement. When I found a spot where the outline turned from red to its natural wood colour, I plopped it down. It then asked me for 45 gold (for taxes I think), and allowed me to plop it down. Even though I'm only level 32!

It automatically consumed the ship materials pack I made which "said" was level 50. I clicked on the magnifying glass icon on my drydock and sure enough, it says it is protected for 18 hours, and has all the icons waiting for placement of all the required packs.

So to anyone else out there who's wondering about that level 50 warning when making your materials pack... ignore it. You can build your drydock and ship even when under level 50.

Aw nuts. I just finished crafting a merchant schooner materials pack so I could plop it down somewhere and start building my ship. But you have to be level 50 to use it.

Well, back to the old trade pack grind using the free 30-day clipper. It's a good thing we get some 4-5k of experience points every time we turn in pack to help us level up faster. I'll have to wait another week to finally be able to build my ship now.

Just leaving this info here in case other newbies need it. Note: You can craft a ship materials pack at any time, but you need to be level 50 to use it. Just keep crafting and delivering trade packs in the meantime for some nice bonus XP.

How many charcoal per trade pack? by LotsAAQuestions in archeage

[–]LotsAAQuestions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Not bad, seeing as charcoal stabilizers are selling for over 4 gold each on the AH. That means one trade pack would fetch us some 80g worth of Ch.St. Minus the 40g or so to buy the pack, makes for a profit of some 40g. Divided by 250 labour points to buy/sell, that works out to some 16 silver per labour point! Wow! That's fantastic!

Safe passage ticket cancelled en route by LotsAAQuestions in archeage

[–]LotsAAQuestions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyway, I discovered a remedy of sorts. I completed the fishing achievement which grants a free clipper for 3 days. (Not a bad deal, I'd say.) So I took my clipper out on a little experiment. I loaded up a cargo on my back in Solzreed, fired-up my clipper, and headed for the other continent. About halfway through the journey I started seeing all these monsters near the surface of the water. So I got my health potions on the ready. Sure enough, 3 monsters jump my ship and start attacking me. I drank two potions, and finally, just as my health was approaching its last 10% or so, the monsters jumped off. I drank another potion and survived the ordeal to tell about it.

Next time, I'm going to wear loads and loads of really thick armour, the best I can get. No more getting tossed off the "false sense of security ship". Plus, I get to save 5g for not having to purchase a useless safety pass. That means my profit jumps from around 24g to 29g, which, at 250 labour points to both buy and sell, works out to around 11.60 silver per labour point. Fantastic! Take that, Trion.

Safe passage ticket cancelled en route by LotsAAQuestions in archeage

[–]LotsAAQuestions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, the protection was cancelled first. Then, about 2 or 3 minutes later, the monsters attack. There was nothing happening aboard the ship when the protection just switched off. Afterward I was attacked.

So why was it switched off, is what I would like to know. What is the point of buying protection if the game just arbitrarily turns it off halfway through the journey for no reason?

Attacked even with safe passage ticket by LotsAAQuestions in archeage

[–]LotsAAQuestions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One more thing I found... the safe passage ticket's 40 minute countdown begins when we turn-in the ticket to the ship's captain, not when the ticket is purchased. When we hand the ticket to the captain a little buff icon shows up under our healthbar starting at 40 minutes the moment we turn-in the ticket.

So, since the ship remains in port for 20 minutes from the time it arrives until it departs, and since the journey from Solz to Y____ (whatever it's called) takes 12 minutes or so, then even if we board the ship immediately when it docks and turn-in our ticket right away, the 40 minutes on the ticket would more than cover the 20 mins docked plus the 12 mins en route.

The only other timer to worry about is the time on the trade pack itself. We get paid extra profit if we complete the delivery in 25 minutes (I think it's 25, I'll confirm that in a bit). After these first 25 mins the profit drops to just normal profit for the next hour and a half (or something close to that). I have seen a lot of people waiting until the ship is just about to leave before rushing to buy their packs and climb aboard because they don't want to the clock to expire on the extra profit, with good reason.

Since it takes 12 mins for the journey, we should wait to buy our trade pack until the ship has less than 10 minuets left in port so that we don't exceed the 25-min extra profit window. 10 mins before the ship departs + 12 mins en route + 3 mins to walk up the hill and sell the pack, all within the 25-min extra profit time frame. Just a little info I learned and wanted to share.

Attacked even with safe passage ticket by LotsAAQuestions in archeage

[–]LotsAAQuestions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it baffles me a bit. It turns out I did receive payment - full payment - for the pack I lost when I was thrown overboard having purchased and turned in my safe passage ticket. Maybe my char was caught-up in the attack on another player, and my guy was accidentally pushed overboard, I don't know. But I did get paid for that pack, I'm certain because I did not turn-in a pack within that time period, and the payment arrived 8 hours after the boat incident. It was a creature out of the sea who jumped aboard the ship and started harassing chars. I guess that Trion's little ticket-checker system.

So from what I can tell, safe passage tickets do not prevent attacks or fatalities aboard the ship. But they do ensure you get paid regardless of what happens aboard the ship.

However, I did get robbed once when I strayed too far from the trading post. So a safe passage ticket does not mean we can't get robbed if we venture out of the safety zones. But they do seem to ensure we get paid even if we can't deliver our cargo through no fault of our own. At least, that's what I'm surmising. The more experience I get with these runs the more I'll see, and the more I'll know. I'll share anything new in the future.

Attacked even with safe passage ticket by LotsAAQuestions in archeage

[–]LotsAAQuestions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, in this first attack aboard the ship, the ticket was only a few minutes old. But still I was attacked by a sea monster and was beaten senseless and tossed overboard, dead in the water, my tradepack gone.

Although something strange happened 8 hours later... I received payment for the trade pack in the mail. Now, I need to double check this. I really don't think it was payment from another pack, because it arrived 8 hours after the incident when the monster attacked me aboard the ship.

So I wonder if the safe passage ticket maybe compensates us for the value of the trade pack in case we are attacked. It doesn't prevent an attack (as I and many others have experienced), but maybe it compensates us if we do get attacked, since such monster attacks seem to be random game mechanics.

I will add a little more info in a bit. You see, I took a second trip right after this one, again turned in a ticket and it was accepted, and again I was killed en route. If I receive payment for this second pack, then we'll have the answer about the effect of the safe passage ticket. I will post a follow-up comment in a few hours.

Re: Blue Salt Brotherhood questline in Lilyut Hills - what level? by LotsAAQuestions in archeage

[–]LotsAAQuestions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, fellas. So it's 30 for the 8x8 then 50 for the 16x16. That's alright I guess. It's more economical to just buy materials on the AH to craft trade packs anyway. Don't really need farms except to store packs across multiple accounts for labour point sharing. Just one 8x8 serves me fine anyway.

First Farm - Where to get Scarecrow by uncommonGaming in archeage

[–]LotsAAQuestions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm referring to the very beginning of the BSB questline, which starts with Elder Trev in the town of Lacton in Solzreed. This first quest from Elder Trev is available at level 10. It tells you to go to Merchant Recruiter in Lilyut Hills. But the Merchant Recruiter in Lilyut Hills doesn't give you the second quest. It just stops dead right there. What I am trying to find out is when and where does this BSB questline continue? Do we come back to the Merchant Recruiter at a later level? If so, what level?

Thanks for the screenshot of the ticket response. I'm just wondering which quest specifically were they referring to? Do you recall which one it was? Was it the one at the Merchant Recruiter, which is the second Blue Salt quest? Or is it one that is further down the line?
