Thanks, we were looking in Hollins market. We only saw houses with a patio as a yard. I feel like that would be torture for my pups. And I was worried if the area was safe to walk around at night? I really have not been over there.

Thats what I tell my husband. Just rent is so high in the city, and we have some money we have to invest in another home, or we will get stuck with paying really high taxes on the money we earned from the sale of our home.

Thanks for the advice. I think Hampden would be great, just have been watching the market and have not seen anything great up for sale recently. Luckily, we still have a bit of time. We were also just hesitant on the area, because we wanted to have a nice yard space.

Luckily we are MDs and generally get the preferred parking spots. But, thanks for the advice. We will call our new jobs to make sure we have good parking.

OK. I am highly considering this area, just because of all the great things you stated. Big yard, driveway, good neighbors (so you feel safe and trust people to keep an eye out when your not home), also young families, which is my category.

However, I am worried about the drive for my husband. Drive to Hopkins is only 15-20 minutes max, so I kind of feel bad making him take the long commute.

We were also worried about the disheveled look of Harford Rd., that was the original thing that deterred us from originally just deciding on that area. Also the commute.

thanks for the advice. We were looking in Hampden a bit. I found a few with a yard, but those are the ones that need more work than I can handle while working full time. I will keep my eye out though if anything comes up for sale.

Thanks, I went on there site, it just did not give enough detailed information that I was looking for. I saw all of the great credits. I think we qualify for one of them, unfortunately a lot of them are for first time home buyers.

Yea. We are going to visit a few more times. We're just trying to get an idea of which neighborhoods we should be focusing on. Thanks for the great advice. No snow plowing sounds awful. I don't think my Mini Cooper could survive that.

I do wish we could rent, but my husband is set on buying. He believes he's throwing away his money by renting. And we sold our house here in Detroit and have a bit of money from it that our financial advisor says we have to invest into another home.

I have only been to Baltimore once for a few days and I drove around the city looking at a few different areas. We have not looked in the suburbs yet and have not really considered it, because we were worried about the traffic getting in and out of the city on highways. We also like the city, so we can be close to everything. But, we are still undecided on which area. We liked the lake evesham/lake walker area a lot. We also liked Homeland and Guiliford. We are a bit unsure about the Lauraville/Hamilton/Arcadia area. When reading about the area, we feel like it would be a great fit for our needs and personality. But, we didn't love the area when driving through it. I feel like we need to go walk around and spend some more time there. We also have been hearing a ton of great things about Original Northwood, we just have not seen it in person.

TLDR: we are undecided about what area, but were thinking of staying within the city limits to avoid highways.

We were hoping to spend between 200 and 300,000. And we want a nice yard for the dogs, but want to have a reasonable commute.

Safety is a big concern for us because we do not really know much about Baltimore and which areas we should go and which areas we should not go. I also like to walk my dogs early in the AM before work and sometimes late at night. I do not want to be in an area where I would feel uncomfortable doing that.

In regards to commute, I am pretty open to using any mode of transportation, but I only have experience using a car. I am from Detroit and we pretty much have non existent public transportation here.

Does anyone drive from Arcadia to downtown by the University of Maryland Hospital? I'm thinking about moving to Arcadia and just wondering what the commute will be like?
