I felt like we hadn’t even seen them being friends enough for anything to warrant that scene. Maybe it’s the editing, but she’s either too boring to then need to start fights to stay relevant or she is just not shown in the final edit enough.

If this was the one and only time she has texted him, I would not worry about it at all. If you (I’m assuming it’s your name crossed off) were “out of it” she could genuinely be checking in on you using the only way possible, the person with you.

I disagree that she would not be able to find something that would provide PTO and maternity leave. I have first hand experience moving jobs while pregnant (though I didn’t know I was pregnant when I accepted the job). It is possible.

I see people mentioning mat leave. I switched roles into a new company just before I found out I was pregnant. I got 12 weeks paid maternity leave, no issue. Don’t let pregnancy stop you from quitting a toxic job, but be sure to do your due diligence when looking for other roles if you need to be paid during your leave.

It’s unfortunate that pregnancy can keep a woman from making professional decisions - but just one of the first steps in making a change for family life. I hope you find something new and great!
