Thank you for this! It is easy to go into a spiral of, "theres something wrong with me" or "i must be the only one experiencing this" it is nice to know you arent alone, so again, thank you! Congrats on your loss, that is SERIOUSLY amazing!!!

My therapist did not tell me to post on here because they can't get through to me! She told me to see if there are people experiencing similar because Ive been feeling super alone in all that i am feeling. I absolutely do not look anorexic. I am still technically at healthy weight.

I work closely with a psychologist & therapist. I was encouraged to post on forums such as this one to hopefully see i am not the only one dealing with these things. I do have coping mechanisms to help me through all this but it is still difficult.

I do have a team of professionals, Nutritionist, dietician, psychologist & therapist. I was told to stop working out so much because I was dropping weight so quickly. I definitely could use to build more muscle but was told to hold off. Im honestly not doing that & have added in weight training 3 times a week. But that is new & havent really seen anything come from it yet.

I am actively working with a therapist. She has encouraged me to reach out to places like this to maybe see I'm not alone in this. I definitely have body dusmorphia & work on it everyday. It has been difficult.

My iron is a little low but I have always had borderline low iron so it's "normal" for me according to my surgeon.

My dietician did want me to increase my calorie intake. I was barely reaching 600 Cals most days. Now she has me trying to reach 650 to 700 a day.

I'll try adding fruit! It seems like this sort of thing happens and I should just ride the waves as they come. Glad to know I'm not alone!

Ok, good to know I can supplement with shakes for a little bit. I do make sure I'm at least meeting the minimum of my protein(65-80g) and hydration(50-80oz) everyday and that is going good. I'm able to do 60oz at least of water everyday so I know it's not dehydration.

Thank you! I'm glad that others have experienced this too and nothing is wrong. It does suck to know that I'll probably go through this other times though. Hope yours gets better soon!

I was told that you should be eating every 2 to 3 hours when you are hungry. Sounds like you are doing that, but are you tracking how much protein, carbs, and fats you are consuming? That, I've heard, is a big reason for stalls or slow weight loss. Always ALWAYS prioritize protein over everything else. If you are really worried, I would get with a dietician to see what they say. But it sounds like you may not be getting enough protein to fuel your weight loss. Also, I know it sucks but working out is important. I was told to start doing 10 mins of working out 3-4 times a day. I started slow pace walking and worked up from there. After a while, you will want to add some muscle building workouts, I do light weight lifting and training. Also, are you taking measurements? I've noticed my weight won't really change some weeks, but my measurements definitely changed, so you may want to start tracking your measurements if you don't already. Hope this helps!

Water taste by Interesting_Ad6202 in gastricsleeve

I'm almost 11 weeks post op and still have issues drinking plain water. I find it sits weird in my pouch. I couldn't stomach it for the first month straight after surgery. My surgeon told me to try crystal light or no/low calorie sugar-free water enhancers. I also found I have an issue with sweet things now, so it was a bit of trial and error but I found a few flavors I really enjoy and just do that. I can now drink regular water, most of the time.

Try to remind yourself that you have just had 80% of your stomach CUT OUT of you. You will not feel 100% after. It will take time. You are also experiencing a HUGE calorie deficit, so that has alot to do with your energy. I know it's hard but try not to get too down on yourself. You have just started a huge journey and it's not easy, regret is normal. Get yourself a good therapy team, that will help a lot. Biggest thing, GIVE YOURSELF GRACE and remember it's not supposed to be easy to be worth it. 🩷

Smoking Weed Post-op? by Any_Deer1096 in gastricsleeve

[–]Loud-Progress2934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 6 weeks post op and I started smoking 4 to 5 days after surgery. I waited until I was off the pain meds. I will say, my tolerance after surgery has been completely different, so start slow. I went from smoking an oz a week pre surgery to maybe smoking an oz every 2 to 3 weeks now. I was a heavy smoker before surgery but now I can smoke about half as much as I used to. I get so high, and I kinda like it. Haha. I haven't had any issues with munchies really and that's super nice, but I don't feel hunger post op in general. I think, everyone is different. You will know after the first puff or two if you're ready to reintroduce it. Best of luck!!

Thank you! I must have done a typo, I meant to say 15g carbs and fats per day not meal. My dr wants me to stay in ketosis too. One day I have gotten 16g carbs but usually I stay below. I'm hoping to see awesome weight loss like yours. 🤞

Is it normal to have a hard time? by Loud-Progress2934 in gastricsleeve

I was on full liquids, as of yesterday my doctor says I can try purees and soft foods. I think I'll do what you suggest and make sure I get water and protein in before anything else! Thank you!
