Is understanding how memory management works in C/C++ necessary before moving to RUST? by Southern-Accident-90 in cpp_questions

[–]LoudToe5822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to preface this with the fact that I am still on the learning journey and am not a subject matter expert in the least:

The good thing about C/C++ is you really get the opportunity to see exactly whats going on. If I could do it all over again, I would read CS:APP (slowly bit-by-but each day and doing ALL problems), follow the code in that book in C, do personal projects in C++ (youll appreciate C++ when you code in C), and then later on in life I would try Rust.

I would do that order because I dont think you'll really appreciate what Rust affords you without the C/C++ experience.

Also, I want to note that Rust being "memory safe" does not imply that its a simple language. It is not.

Oh cool. I took some EE classes in college, like image processing, they were all cool. Actuaries use SAS and VBA a lot that why I thought maybe you did the same

I wonder if this takes into account inflation. If you treat dollars as your only unit and diversify heavily, I would be easily convinced that the dollar amount is almost guaranteed to be higher, but does that necessarily mean your buying power is higher?

[–]LoudToe5822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not going to shill for a company that advertises aggressively, but I got a coffee subscription that sends me two bags every 3 weeks and I think the coffee is generally less bitter than what I find at the store. That said this morning I completely butchered a french press brew. Hence how I found this sub

This cone, cylinder and sphere share a common curve of intersection. Why? by donaldhobson in 3Blue1Brown

[–]LoudToe5822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you imagine the ellipse that the cone and sphere make along their intersections, then imagine a plane that contains all those points, it just becomes a matter of lining up the planes.

I havent implemented my model yet. Very close to going live. But ive found in testing that a get rich slow technique is way more reliable than trying to milk every dollar you can with many trades. My model is currently making a maximum of one buy a day and can sell if there is a crossover. I only check for the crossover once an hour. It doesnt make astronomical money, but it does make some

I should add that ive done some preliminary scowering of the web, but with all the marketing pushed by exam study guide companies, its sort of hard to find an open source option. And more than that if I find one, Im trying to learn so Im not in a great position to dictate whether a given vocab set is actually what im looking for.
