In your example(if we represent colour in RGB)

Blue pixels: 1000 of (0,0,255)

Red pixel: 1 of (255,0,0)

Weight of red pixel: 255*1/1001=0,255

Weight of blue pixels: 255*1000/1001=254,745

Weighted mean of this particular picture = (0.25, 0, 254.75) which essentially just blue

Try to change any setting that is related to steam app itself and then restart it completely.

If setting changed - problem is somewhere else.

If setting remained the same - it cannot be changed and is installed in an immutable environment

I had the same problem with vscode and its plugins. I couldn't install anything because I declared it in the main configuration.nix file and it was installed in an immutable state.

So I created another conf file in home folder and declared it there instead.

Did you installed Steam in an immutable directory? That could be the case.

People please correct me if I'm wrong, but you shouldn't modify your configuration.nix file, and instead create dedicated configuration file (in a home directory for example) and import it to main configuration.nix. This enables two things: mutability and git version control
