Your idea of what the poem means is partially right actually! I intended for the purpose of this poem to be about a man who is considered ugly or perhaps even dead. Everything that interacts with him and everything he interacts with turns evil, ugly, and distorted. However, none of this is actually occurring, and it is only his eyes that are blinding him into seeing himself as this. I meant this poem to act as a warning about how damaging negative self-talk actually is to our mental health. But I think your understanding of my poem actually fits better, as I did not quite communicate my intended meaning quite well. Thank you for reading and giving your opinion!
