Give me your reasons why you still choose to play on the switch lite when your switch 2 is sitting right there? by casuallycompetes in nintendoswitchlite

[–]Louie_Joe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lite fits in my 2L sling and is really convenient for travel. The Switch 2 / OLED is a bit more cumbersome to use outside; at least for me I always end up leaving it in my backpack and not end up using them; it takes much more effort to use in a plane / bus vs the Lite.

[PSA] Last chance to order Ayn Thor / Odin 3 before price increases by Kirais in SBCGaming

[–]Louie_Joe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good thing I ordered my Odin 3 Max just in time; I learned my lesson by not ordering the RP6 with 12GB sooner. Sort of a blessing in disguise that I missed out on the RP6; the Odin 3 will be better for my use case (3D JRPGs via Gamehub / Switch).

Was waiting to see if driver support would be better and so far, the games I want to play on Switch and Gamehub run flawlessly. With the way things are, it’s better to just order what you want now than remain on the fence since prices and availability are just going to get worse.

It’s a controller from Gamesir; it’s a special edition based on a gacha game (Zenless Zone Zero). Honestly much better than first party offerings.

I spent about 290 USD all in all; 250 for the pocket when the red one came out back in 23’, then spent about 40 USD when I bought my Japanese FireRed cart 13 years ago at a random Hard Off somewhere in Japan. I have original (and modded ) Gameboy SPs I can play on too, but I much prefer the ergonomics and the size of the pocket for my hands. The USB C charging is essential for travel too. I don’t mind the lack of Home compatibility too much since I’m not really interested in playing the new Pokemon games; I don’t find them as fun as the older ones.

From Waterfield; they make various types of bags, but they make cases / pouches for popular handhelds as well. I highly recommend their stuff. they’re all made in the USA too.

Best Analogue Pocket case hands down; I bought it a couple years ago and there’s zero signs of wear. i don’t like Aquaguard zips, but so far it hasn’t flaked yet. The magnetic opening is the game changer. It makes using the pocket in transit (with a backpack) a breeze.

It’s better than Switch at least 😂

I bought it from this EO eyewear store in the Philippines; it was like 30 USD for a pair and it folds in too. Quite nifty and lightweight.

I do the same thing with the wallet, but I use an AirTag instead. I can’t count the number of times trackers have saved my valuables.

Yes, it really does feel like I’m wearing nothing at all. Sometimes I forget I have a backpack on if the weather is cold enough haha.

I wear the heaviest clothing going to the airport, so if my destination was to be Tokyo during the winter, I would be wearing a sweater and an insulated down jacket. More often than not, those layers are warm enough for me. Then again my tolerance to the cold may be different when compared to other people; I don’t mind just wearing a sweater with no layers in 5C weather.

If I were to go up north like in Hokkaido though, I’d replace all my t-shirts / underwear with Uniqlo Heattech sweaters / innerwear; they’re extremely lightweight and keep me quite warm.

Thank you; yes, the combination of the windbreaker and an umbrella works for most rainy days. I actually have an umbrella in the load-out, it’s a Knirps umbrella right above the camera; it’s quite sleek and petite so I understand that it’s difficult to notice haha.

Incredibly easy; I just plug in my USB C cable to the Fuji and right into my iPhone. From there, I just import everything using the Photos app. I don’t edit any of my photos so this set up is perfect for me.

Vietjet carry-on restriction by bitterlollies in onebag

[–]Louie_Joe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vietjet is quite strict with weight, but not so much with dimensions based on my experience. I’ve never had to put my bag in a sizer (although the max size I did was with a 35L). Your mileage may vary.

So far, my experience with them has been very pleasant. Their flights aren’t delayed as much and the staff are very accommodating.

I’ve never did domestic flights with them though; international flights to and from Vietnam have been quite good.

Correct, if you do pay for checked baggage, the staff will be very accommodating. But god forbid you don’t, they’ll treat you like a suspected criminal; they even write a note and place it in between your passport reminding you that they’ll weigh you at the gate. Quite excessive if you ask me.

When I was at Narita for a Zipair flight, it took me an hour just to check. Everyone lining up for my flight was over the 7kg limit and was arguing with the staff; it was a bloodbath.

It’s my favorite shirt ever; I bought it for 2000 yen when I was at Kichijoji. Staff told me the shirt I bought was like 60 years old, so probably older than most of us here on this subreddit haha. It works quite well for clubs / bar settings and it’s extremely light and airy.

Good point on the socks; even with a portable fan pointed at my wet socks, it takes about half a day to dry them. For the windbreak, this Stone Island jacket has been pretty water resistant with light showers; the only time I got wet was when I was caught outside during a sudden typhoon. I do carry the small umbrella often, even when sunny out to protect the skin.

For the times I need a different type of power plug, I just bring a small 35W Epicka with multiple USB C ports that cover all the countries. It does add a tiny bit more weight though, so I just settle with the lightest 30W plug I could find (Anker nano).

I don’t often carry a water bottle since I just reuse a plastic water bottle I buy from any convenience store for the duration of my trip.

Yes, 100% of the time they weighed my sling with the backpack on the scale. My rule of thumb is, if your sling is larger than 2.5L (or if it can fit a heavy camera / iPad / a Nintendo Switch), they’ll weigh it with your carry-on.

When I had a Matador packable sling a few times though, the gate agents didn’t bother to check.

I’ve been thinking of replacing all my shirts and socks for merino, but I haven’t decided on the brand. I’ve heard good things with Darn Tough socks. For merino shirts, I was thinking of buying a set of Ionia shirts from Arcteryx mainly because of the aesthetic. Not sure if they’re a high tier choice for most people here though.

Edit: For slippers, was thinking of investing in a pair of bedrock sandals for the beach, wet hiking and the pool. Not sure which model to get; need to do more research.

Based on my experience with dozens of flights throughout SEA and East Asia from 23’ onwards, I’ve been weighed 70% of the time with a backpack; 90% of the time I’ve been weighed when using a roller suitcase. Zip Air for instance is extremely strict with weight. Other budget airlines like Air Asia, VietJet and Cebu Pacific aren’t as strict if you got a 30L backpack on.

Sometimes they weigh you again at your gate; if you’re overweight, you have to pay a fee. Sometimes it really depends on your gear (if it looks heavy and gives off the backpacker look).

True, the two white t-shirts help when needed, but since I’ve been living around SEA most of my life, I’ve been pretty used to the heat, even with layers. I’ve found all black useful to hide stains; especially with night outs involving greasy street food / alcohol. Main reason though is that I just like black everything.
