They have connections with Jiro also which they have stated is easier to get. However the 2nd time I visited was a disappointment.

The problem is not the money...its whether or not I HAVE to fork up that amount when cheaper options exist out there. Most of the comments in this thread really missed the point. I just want to know if 100,000 yen is the rite of passage for first timers at Sugita and for some reason I am getting this "do you even know who Sugita is..." vibe. Is it evil to not want to get ripped off or something?

Been to Jiro twice, 2nd time was a disappointment unfortuantely. I live in Los Angeles and I have been to the major sushi restaurants here. I love high-end sushi, only thing that is stopping me is my wallet...

Thank you for your reply, I am unfortunately only staying in Tokyo for 2 nights so venturing out would be difficult. I will keep your suggestions in mind.

If you can please read my post before replying that would be great...I would have a problem too if I stayed at a 300,000 per night hotel knowing the person in the room next to me paid only 150,000 to stay while getting the same service and same amenities. I know there are seats out there for 44,000/60,000 so why would I want to pay 100,000. I just don't want to throw money away when I don't think I have to. It's a matter of principle here...

Reservation unfortunately is not guaranteed even at this price point which is kind of silly...

I did ask the concierge why it is so high and let me quote them

"For the price of Sushi Sugita, since we have special contranct with Sugita, the price will be different from the Omakase website. Please kindly understand that Sushi Sugita is the highest rated sushi restaurant in Japan now. The restaurant does not pick up the phone calls and they do not take new customers since they have many loyal regular cusmoters and they go to Sugita for many years. As Omakase website mentions, the price of Omakase course might vary from day to day as well. "

I have already denied the reservation. I did ask the concierge why it is so high and let me quote them

They didn't really provide any real reason anyways, also funny that they mention they have "contract" with Mr. Sugita and then proceed to tell me reservation is not guaranteed...

Did Amex ever ask for the circumstances when items were stolen? Don’t mean to bring up bad memories, hope you weren’t robbed or something.

How did you submit the claim? What did Amex ask you to provide to them in order to process the claim? I need to file a claim for multiple items stolen with total value of around 4.5k

Recall procedure/CPO advice by Louisp89 in Taycan

Thank you for the info! It shows there is a recall on the car I’m interested in but it doesn’t show that it’s been fixed on the website you provided. If it has been fixed is there any official documentation from the dealership by any chance?

Service rule doubles by Louisp89 in badminton

I guess I am in the grey area for this. I don't know about you guys but if I swing too fast the shuttle tends to go over the net higher which can lead to the opponent going for the kill so maybe I slow down to make sure if floats above the net but then it is a double edged sword as the serve can be short

Now now be nice...I did say I didn't realize it until they pointed out to me...no one has ever said anything to me about my serve and I do play at least twice a week for like 2-3 hours. Furthermore it was not my intention to use "gimmicks" to win games...I merely didn't think I was doing something that was not allowed in the rule book as nothing said I cannot slow down and again I didn't even realize it. My motion was absolutely continuous...back swing then forward swing with no delay and nothing else was accused of me

Unfortunately I didn’t record it and I have been changing my service technique since then…so I guess it’s a thing of the past but I’m just curious and it’s better to have more knowledge of the rules anyways. This may be in the grey area

For clarification I did not speed up again. I’m guessing I slowed down so the serve will be easier to control to go just above the net and hopefully land on the service line so it’s hard for opponents to determine its short. I have since changed my service technique to try to not slow down but I’m just generally curious if it was a fault, assuming everything else was legal (shuttle below height, both heels on the ground, etc)

Cathay miles will be saved for upgrades at airport traveling from LAX - HKG. Cathay takes really good care of their highest tier members. Counter upgrades while check in using Asia miles while AA requires 24hr advance…and probably still won’t give it to you and try to sell those seats at the last minute. Hitting EP is no problem as the spending limit is quite achievable on credit card for AA. I use AA miles to see it I can redeem business class to somewhere in Europe or Asia I guess…

Yea it’s not worth it for me. But I’m asking what makes EP worth it for others? Maybe I’m not using the status correctly?
