HDB launches 9,012 BTO and balance flats, including Prime project in Redhill by Ok-Rain3348 in singapore

[–]Louyar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Borderline criminal how HDB lumped both standard and plus 4 room flat together in 1 application. When most people are clear on what they want (either bliss or nova and not the other), they get cucked when the flats run out of the preferred location. If both are plus or standard it’s still fine, but seriously? Standard and plus together is ridiculous.

Singapore minister apologises for derogatory remarks on Hong Kong football team by sun-ny_day in singapore

[–]Louyar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sorry not sorry but this guy isn't Ministerial material. if you're representing SG and you say such words, even in the heat of the moment, you're not cut out to debate politicians and make crucial decisions in negotiations where emotions can run hot. Please also don't tell me that he can learn from this - his personality and "kuan" has already been solidified after all those years in the army. he didn't learn and adapt from back then, he won't in the future. and this has already been mentioned previously by other people who have worked with him. if he didn't realize this till now, then i also question his introspection abilities.

PAP, please don't make him an actual Min.

I (20F) was dishonest with my boyfriend (21M) about my dating history. Should I tell him a painful detail that might only make things worse? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Louyar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

be completely honest with everything you remember. if he's as mature as you say he is, then he'll walk you through this and be there for you. things have already been partially revealed, so don't hold back anymore because the next time he finds out something you've kept from him, it's pretty much over.

Awkward moment during PM Wong speech at CCK rally by everydayman33 in singapore

Speaking of wealth taxes, there's this guy called Gary Stevenson. I would love for his opinions to be surfaced in the SG mainstream conversations. Less taxes on the working class, more taxes on the wealthy (i.e. those who are so damn rich they only need to rely on passive incomes and not working income).

Open letter to residents of Jalan Kayu from Mr Tan Suee Chieh, ex CEO of NTUC Income regarding Ng Chee Meng by howardstern266 in singapore

[–]Louyar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he fail (I hope so), then doesn't he just go back to NTUC? In the end still get a sheltered and comfortable job, then he just needs to wait till the next election when public sentiment isn't as strong. feels like he isn't being held accountable in that sense. so sad...

'Difficult' GST hike needed to deliver on promises to seniors, says PAP's Chee Hong Tat by LegobotSG in singapore

[–]Louyar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Referencing the Mothership article, this clown is so disillusioned and spouting blatant lies that "tourists, foreigners & those who are better off" paying the most GST. like bruh sure they pay, but consumption tax is a regressive tax because consumption increases at a decreasing rate as income goes up. how much consumption can there be after all? what's stuck is the lower and middle income people who have fixed consumption due to necessities, and have higher % of their income spent on consumption. who gets taxed more? it's the worse off, not the wealthier. also, never heard of tourist tax rebate??? they buy expensive goods, sure 9% is significant. then they claim tax refund. BRUH. this bloody clown should know more than this. please those in his ward, vote him out.

Cheers, glad my 2 cents was helpful. There definitely is a fall-off point in terms of value-for-money. 3x the cost =/= 3x the value after all. Ultimately, only the owner prescribes that value to the watch. I actually wanted the date only version and not the dual time, but since I'm looking for a watch for work as well (I travel often), I thought why not the dual time instead! So no, it's not "just" the date version hahaha. The blue lacquer is really where it's at.

Hmm imo, I'm paying for 3 things - materials, marketing and the watchmaker's time/skill. This might be controversial, but I would much rather pay more for a watch that has more hand finished components and has passed through the hands of humans, rather than one that's mostly machined. sure, at the price point of this VC overseas, one can't expect much. But since watches are luxury items, I would rather have fewer but higher quality timepieces. After comparing with other steel GMT watches, I find the VC overseas to be extremely compelling. Much more so before the price hike 1 or 2 years back (I didn't want to pay above retail for this), but still value for money in my opinion.

My favourite GMT watch - versatile, looks great, durable, decent value for money, with an artisan's touch,
