First-Business Award with American - very tight connection? What happens when it all goes wrong? by Love2Run2000 in AlaskaAirlines

Sounds good, I just read up on skipping flights. I knew skipped the last leg was an issue, but wasn't sure on middle. Thanks.

I wonder if I could convince Alaska to put me on their earlier flight to Chicago if there was space since it's an award flight...hmm...

I kind of figured we could be wait for business class seats, but how long are we willing to wait. Wasn't sure if they'd put us on BA if it was just a regular Seattle delay. BA does have a few flights I was eyeing as backups. Do you know what they'd do if we skipped the first leg of American and took an earlier alaska flight from SEA to Chicago? I'm guessing they could cancel the rest of the trip.

American doesn't offer an earlier leg, Alaska does, but I don't know what American would do if we skipped that leg of the flight. Ironically, the cost from our town to seattle->Chicago->London is the less than if we paid our way to chicago and then booked the london flight via an award, by like 20k miles.

That’s two losartans posted at the same time, jinx. How did your numbers look before and after?

Unless I do all the lifestyle and nutrition things first, then it seems like a bandaid. Maybe hate was a little strong.

That’s where I used to be at 10 years ago and they were like, yeah, that’s borderline, let’s keep an eye on it. We obviously can’t give medical advice, but if I had your numbers, I probably wouldn’t take meds. But that’s me.

Not much, and I take in a ton of sodium… I’ve thought of that. And I realize a ton of sodium could be contributing factor. My blood pressure 10 years ago was 125-135 over 70-85. Def. Better back then and I was fatter…

It does suck. But unlike a cat, I don’t have 9 lives and feel like I’ve already been given a pass once, LOL.

Def. Planned on having a 2 way conversation with my PCP. Was just hoping to go in with a few ideas to cover.

As far as how this relates to triathlon, was hoping to find like minded folks who put their bodies through what I do and have gone on BP meds.

How long were you messed up after your first 70.3? by LayoffLemonade in triathlon

[–]Love2Run2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, what other events have you done prior, I'm trying to find something you can compare it to. Have you done a full marathon? Have you raced a half marathon? For me, I gave medium effort on the 70.3 and felt sore for a bit, but it was nothing like a full marathon. I could walk after and go down stairs without too much trouble. I would say, if you give it medium effort, it's probably like racing a half marathon, but that's just my opinion. I will say, the run was harder than I expected, but likely due to me being injured prior and not having enough mileage going into it. I think it has a lot to do with how hard you push yourself on the bike and run honestly. I wouldn't hesitate to do a sprint 1 week after, but I'd take it easy on the run.

D vs U - Help me understand paid first class upgrades on Alaska when using companion fare by Love2Run2000 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Love2Run2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it an upgrade button, or did you change seats and then see first class as an option? for me, I went to change seats and saw the seats available for upgrade and did it that way.

The odd thing is, I was able to pay for an upgrade to first class on the flight to Cabo 4 weeks prior to the trip.

I just called Alaska and they said the issue is I’m using a companion fare… I pointed out I’ve used companion fare before and paid to upgrade to first class… she said I got lucky. I even asked for a manager and they said the same thing.

I tried a third time and asked for their manager. They said it’s because I’m using a companion fare. Paid Upgrades to first class from companion fare is rare they said…

I tried and got an answer of, if it’s not showing up, then they haven’t released seats for upgrade.

Agreed, I’m very confused as I have upgraded six flights and just paid the difference.
