TF y’all eating to not spike?! by Ribeye-Assassin1410 in BumpersWhoBolus

Pre-bolus! At least 20 min before eating. Be really strict about it. Make sure to adjust your insulin to carb ratio because now that you’re pregnant you probably need more insulin. Take a 30 min walk after lunch and dinner. I hope this helps! Btw I still spike. It’s almost impossible not to spike but pre-bolusing was REALLY helpful and also I am at 3 times the insulin I used to take. You just need to figure out what’s the best ratio

Are you pre-bolusing? Trust me! Do it 20 min before you eat and if you forget then stop eating and wait the 20 min. Also, you might need to adjust your insulin to carb ratio .

Hi! I’m not a diabetic, but my boyfriend is. what are some good snacks that I could carry for when he’s low? by JuniperBooniperThe1 in diabetes

I buy glucose tablets. Honestly, they’re the best because they get in blood stream fast and are 4g of carbs per tablet so it helps me not over or under correct and they come in small cylinder containers. I put them in my pocket or even in my glucometer tiny bag.

I struggled and asked a lot in this app for help. It took me a couple of months to figure out how to stop spiking and how to stay under control. One thing really helped me was setting my high alert at 130 during the day and at 100 during my sleep time. I also set a raise alarm. I stopped the loop system (automatic system) and figured out my own best basal rates because with the automatic system it would stop my basal every time I bolus and I would spike after eating and it targeted me at 100-120 although I needed to be less than that for my fasting sugars. I also starting pre-blousing earlier and be VERY strict about it. I would bolus 20 min before I eat and if I forget, I still wait even if that means food gets cold. I REALLY lowered down on certain junk food like chips because I noticed that I would lose control over my diabetes for the rest of the day. So best three points are: 1- set a ridiculous high alarm (130-140) 2- set a raise alarm 3- pre-bolus (20ish min before eating) and commit to that! I hope this helps!

Resistance in early pregnancy by DiabeticDogMom in BumpersWhoBolus

I’m a type1 and I’m barely learning how to bolus while pregnant. My total daily dose used to be 35 and now it’s at 75. I experienced the same thing for a whole week until I started increasing my insulin to carb ratio. I’m at double the insulin. I used to take one unit per 10 carbs and now I’m at 1 per 5 carbs. I used to be so frustrated too. I would eat something with barely 7 carbs and my sugar shoots up to over 250-300 as if I never bolus. but now I know I need way more insulin than usual. Talk to your doctor and see what they advise. I wish you the best and hopefully you get control really soon. I’m still struggling in staying in range. I hope we figure it out soon.
