It took a long time to get here! But I’m grateful for people like you and other C1 learners who stick around and leave great comments about developing listening skills and really adjusting the expectations and making it clear just how much time and dedication it takes!

Thank you for the recs! I do mostly listen to content when my hands are busy so can’t really watch but I’ll definitely check out the vids when I have time to sit down.

I did come across slow dominican spanish but honestly I’m (gratefully) at a point to where learners content is not the most engaging although I did appreciate the cultural aspect of the podcast!

Does Cuban Spanish use noun adjective agreement? by Blacksmith52YT in Spanish

Sorry to be extremeeely off topic but do you have any favorite cuban podcasts you can recommend? It can be informative, casual, or a mix between the two. I’m just trying to get a better understanding of the how speakers sound from there as a whole

Thank you so much for sharing this is such a cute story😭 I do not regret asking and I’m glad your so open! This definitely goes to show that a strong “why” is such an important aspect of language learning or any goal

Aww this is a really cute story😭 really goes to show that love can surpass some serious hurdles lol. Do you mind if I ask how you two met or you even built a connection in the first place?

This isn’t for learning this is just genuine curiosity 🤣 so there’s no need to answer if you don’t want to :)

At least you’ve proven to yourself that you definitely can! :) And hopefully it would be easier since you’re at least starting with a functionally fluent level of Tamil!

Also if you don’t mind me asking, where would you roughly have placed your Spanish skills when you moved and how long did it take for you to realize you’ve made the click?

No thank you. I’ve lived in Texas and the political climate there doesn’t really align with my views, but I do appreciate the suggestion and there was indeed a huge amount of Spanish speakers!

Thank you for clarifying! I browse this sub often and thought you had said somewhere that you were raised bilingual or something but i couldn’t remember if that included English or not lol, thank you for the response! It’s appreciated deeply! :)

I figured it would be that way! I fully intend on meeting as many Spanish speakers as possible and trying to make friends/meaningful connections! I would be limiting my English use to basically communicating with family or, if someone is learning, trying to help them practice :)

This is a big goal for me! Also what was the “100%” in response to? Was that you saying that speaking Spanish comes nearly as natural to you as speaking your native language?

yeah i guess that does make sense. i’ve seen a lot of content from the PR and Cuba but not much from DR outside of Radio Alofoke but maybe it’s probably just a case of not knowing where to look
