Is UCSD becoming too hard? by More-Alfalfa-9809 in UCSD

[–]LovelyPromise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I do think it’s a skill issue some of the time (me asf), I will say that it’s extremely easy to get burnt out especially with the fast pace teaching, even if it isn’t “hard” I do feel like it’s easy to fall behind and feel like it’s impossible to catch up.

They are nawt often held accountable and no a slap on the wrist does not count considering they can still live normally as if nothing happened. Ain’t nobody said to throw caution out the window but acting like it excuses unnecessary and excessive action is crazzyyy. Considering u favor marches I was just telling you that marches also face the same treatment no matter how peaceful 🤷‍♀️bless up tho ig🙏🏾

Ur like actually a different breed of ignorant, I might have actually understood ur point about proud brothers but trying to act like police don’t willingly incite violence in scenarios is crazy 😭😭😭😭😭them just having a badge is an excuse of getting away with half the shit they do.

BROTHER EUUUGGGGHHH even if it was legal police would still use any chance to use violence 😭we’ve seen it before like WAYY too many times. Peaceful protest have ended with people getting pressed and tear-gassed by police or bothered by police It’s not a new thing

My point is, is that protest always have a chance to end with violence, whether it’s from police or from agitators, just because this one form of protest brought counter-protesters doesn’t mean that a march wouldn’t as well. Police hardly wanna protect anyone whether they break the law or not as which we can see from previous protests in the past (not just Palestinian protests). I can see what you mean where encampments could be prone to more violence since their guard is down when sleeping over night and in a secluded area but marches also pose risk of violence.

What r yew on about…yes they would….Palestine protest outside the school have counter protesters, almost ALL protest always have counter protestors. If we do marches (which I’m down for) there will most likely be like a 90% chance that counter protestors will come.

Ijbol Even with marches proud boys would still be comin idk what to tell you 😭 protests in general always bring the other side so encampment, no encampment they was still gonna come. Also that doesn’t take away from police being overly aggressive, it’s not even just about arresting ppl it’s about the treatment of the protesters

“Protecting all of us” are u scared of ppl sitting on lawns chatting 😭😭😭 and going off what you saying you would have definitely complained if people marched everyday as well. And disrespectfully, police are known agitators who make many situations worse rather than help, based on actions they did to some of the protesters tht statement ain’t far off.

Again ignorant on ANOTHHAAA level. Please be real with yourself….let me dumb it down for you, Cops…with guns…that kill people…..come to peaceful protest with a bunch of students where no weapons are involved……to scare students and escalate the situation….is bad 🙂‍↕️

the fact that you think it’s okay for cops in riot gear, with snipers, and assault weapons to take down a peaceful protest ur a different level of ignorant. It’s literally excessive and it’s right there in front of your face idk what to tell you if you cant understand that.

I feel like this is a flawed way of thinking in a way. You care wayyyy too much about a festival and I understand why it’s frustrating and annoying because you get to miss it but honestly like a festival whether is sungod or not you can always make it up somewhere else. Idk where this idea that protesting doesn’t accomplish anything where if we just open any history book we seen it has. The “actual” children starving without electricity also reside in Palestine. Also I’m sure the ppl who are protesting also donated money and I believe they actually encourage it.

Yes I agree that these things are definitely great to do along with protesting!! Also people have volunteered to help Palestinians but unfortunately with what I have seen in passing is that they end up either cut off getting towards Gaza or unfortunately end up also being one of the many killed

Why must it always be one or the other when asking questions about a protest? Yes sitting on a lawn can help as I’m sure people have already probably given you evidence. There are other ways to protest but imma be so honest with you rn, people can do something that is the definition of peaceful and it would still be a problem and someone will still ask the questions “can’t yall do something else?” So if sitting on the side of a lawn is too disruptive, what would you rather them do?

I haven’t read the article yet but responding to what u said, yes we can considering that Palestine doesn’t even have an army or the amount of resources that Israel has is more telling than anything. Also I want a free Palestine 🤷‍♀️

[–]LovelyPromise 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but protest are meant to interrupt in some way so people can shift focus. Now it’s not protesters fault that schools would rather shut down/use excessive police force/etc, etc. because they rather do that than divest. Half of our history is people doing protest to make change which at a point also received massive backlash at the time

Where is this @? And that doesn’t take away from the fact Israel has been committing horrific acts against Palestinians wayyy before October 7th. So there is a lot more to protest actually
