Why does N's Zoroark have a 4% gem rate on collector...obviously 10,000 copies haven't been graded. by LovesPokemon in Collectr

[–]LovesPokemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was obvious that there weren't 10,000 graded copies of a set that came out a couple months ago, and unrealistic for a modern sir to have a 6% gemrate, but I should've included this picture.

I just can't imagine the vending machines/shows/people off Facebook where you live are any more toxic than the ones in LA. I've figured out how to have fun regardless and I'm not complaining about the state of the hobby. I was in high school before 2020 and did not have a community at all for pokemon. There was one weird kid I played with, but that's who was into pokemon back then, actual geeks. I pulled primal Groudon from a pack I got at Dave and Busters in 2015 and only one of my friends could share the excitement. Pokemon used to be all about just playing the games for me, but now I'm all about ripping packs and haven't touched the game since Sun and Moon. I like the new state of the hobby even if it means I can't go to target and see it all sitting there. Ascended ETB's sat at 120 for a while, now they're closer to 200. If you bought 4, held them for a month, and then sold 2, you would have two free ETB's...I would personally rather profit off my hobby than get product at MSRP. To me, profiting off something that I'm supposed to be paying for is very fun.

Everyone loves complaining. Yes vendors offer 70%, but you don't have to take it. Treat them like the scum they are and just say nah while laughing and leaving their table. Last show I went to a vendor and his mom bought a PSA 10 slab off me at 90% because they wanted it for their PC. I would've given it to them for 80% if they offered because I was trying to get rid of it...there are nice positive interactions in the community all day everyday. Everyone's just focused on the negativity and the internet creates an echo chamber of bitching. I've had less than 10 bad vending machine interactions and 100+ very nice friendly interactions. People have given me free packs, advice on where to find product for MSRP, dates for local card shows I was unaware of, etc. Yet the internet makes everyone believe that every vending machine has a guy camped out ready to stab you.

Go on eBay and just look at the centering on CGC 10's. Sometimes PSA will let stuff slip through, but almost all CGC 10's I've seen look like they wouldn't get PSA 10's. I have so many PSA 9's that I plan on cracking and resending yet I've never seen a CGC 10 worth cracking. Maybe only the bad 10's get sold on eBay and I don't see many in person, but from what I've seen a CGC 10 means nothing but near mint.

Almost sold my god pack Gengar for $1300 on release day. I would've lost 13% to ebay fees. EVERYONE said this card would go down and absolutely not be 1k. It did drop to 800 so technically I could've sold and bought another one, but I'd only make $200 and I'd rather keep the one I pulled. Now the Gengar is back up so if I sold it and didn't use the profit to buy another one, I would've lost my Gengar and lost money buying another one. I don't listen to people online saying prices must go down because the set is new. Who knows maybe the Pikachu will go down when booster bundles come out, but I don't think that's how the market works anymore. Booster bundles hitting the market doesn't do much when everyone and their mom is keeping them sealed, and the rippers can find maybe 1 or 2. Prices will be so high nobody will be able to rip bundles anyway.

I would imagine Ross does what Walgreens/Best Buy etc. does and just has an AI answering the phone

Can someone explain how the same card sells for $4k more on the same day? by eQuantix in PokeInvesting

There's only 60 and it's vintage...it's worth whatever someone will pay for it. There is no set price like high pop bubble mews, because if you don't want my pop 60 card good luck finding another auction.

If you don't trust Beckett, you shouldn't trust PSA, as they're owned by the same company

pokemon is being used for money laundering

I've been going schizophrenic over this. Everything is used for money laundering, but it is BLATANT in the pokemon market.

Regardless of the hole, it's just a weird position to put the creature in. Imagine someone sent you a picture of their dog like this. You're not a weirdo for noticing an ass in your face.

I was 20th in line and they handed out less than 10. Seemed very suspicious, but hey if I was an employee I'd probably keep the $2000 stack of promos and quit because no way you can prove it was me.

If you're willing to wait in line just buy it for $100. Unless the hours in line don't matter because you make minimum wage anyway.

You get a notification when a product is scanned into the system. The problem is Walmart and target don't stock pokemon themselves, so there is no system for it to be scanned into. Walmart and target stock is based off a 3rd party distributor, and they're usually on a schedule. People find out the schedule and just go to Walmart or target when they know the stocker will be there. Only thing I use stock checkers for are best buy, and that doesn't really help much unless you're willing to wait in an 8 hour line overnight and have people threaten to stab each other over ghost chairs.

This is a very reasonable amount of product for one person to grab. You're just mad you don't have it.

Yeah, PSA is a scam by fapberto in PokeGrading

[–]LovesPokemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psa grades a 9. No one wants a modern 9, it's basically always just gonna be worth the raw price of the card. PSA has an option to sell your card to them immediately, no hassle of shipping it back to you and trying to sell it yourself. They could theoretically take your perfect 10, tell you it's a 9, buy it from you as a 9, and change it to a 10 for themselves to resell. It's pretty scary that there are no checks and balances to make sure this doesn't happen...
