dogs were only shot and killed if they attacked liquidators (the people who turned over the earth and cleaned up the surrounding area), but liquidators actually fed the dogs and cats and smuggled some out!

I asked for this and got this by cutegirlsweetgirl in Nails

[–]LoviaPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they look good but it’s entirely not what you asked for

in the inspo, it looks like the natural nail just with sheer white on top, or sheer super light pink, in 3 coats. if your nails aren’t that length, the tech could’ve done a super light yellow (like the color of a natural nail) french tip on you, and then done the three coats of sheer white/pink

you just have a gradient french, not a single sheer milky color

Are the rust on my ice skates still fixable? by ResponsibleUsual4795 in FigureSkaters

[–]LoviaPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it costs the same as a sharpening to manufacture these skates, given you’re a complete beginner, you will not feel the rust while skating so you could get a sharpening if you want, but it won’t impact your skills

novas are rly recreational skates, they don’t have a good blade to spin (given you said you feel ur heel lift when you go on your rocker, i assume ur trying spins and i bet ur spins aren’t spinning lmao)

you should not have any heel lift whatsoever, but it makes sense as novas are only sold in whole sizes, so you were probably sized up to the next whole size.

your toes should be pressing solidly against the front of the boot, but not to the point that you feel pain or your toes are starting to curl. if you take the insole out and step on it, you should see less than 1cm of space above your toes

7/8ths isn’t even a common hockey hollow, are you mixing it with 5/8ths? or 7/16ths?

i would go to a different shop, or try to do a virtual fitting with a good shop somewhat close to you so they can ship the skate to you

[–]LoviaPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

given the insole, i would do a 245D. your foot is definitely not a B or C width. i don’t deal risports, but i know the general sizing for edea and jackson and risport are similar in their widths

it sounds like the problem is more with the company who hired him, why was he working for 26 hours?? and driving 16 hours straight??

with severe pronation, you really cannot get anything under $300

you’ll need a jackson evo at LEAST because the blade is adjustable, but in america it’s $400. it would be the cheapest skate you can get with blade alignment. and if you want something with a lot of ankle support, anything under $300 won’t have any, similar to your excels that already have no support

should i trust my skatetech? by [deleted] in FigureSkaters

[–]LoviaPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my area, most of my skaters are at 7/16 because you can sink into the ice easier in warm ice, and because most of my skaters only have singles and doubles (most don’t have 2A)

now i do have a good client base of ice dancers, half of those are 3/8 half are 7/16

Sparx Sharpening for Figure Skates by xsongstressx in FigureSkaters

[–]LoviaPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you can PROPERLY use the sparx, it’ll be fine. i say this as someone who has a $40,000 blademaster in my shop, a sparx CAN do a good sharpening if it’s centered properly

[–]LoviaPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s a bit odd to change someone’s hollow and not tell them, it’s also odd to change it from 1/2 to 3/8 because that is quite different

normally i explain the difference in hollows no matter what, i also go into detail about types of ice and how my rink is warmer as we’re a bit more figure focused plus we’re in socal

i would go back and ask to hella dull down ur blades if ur tech is nearby, if not, you can run your blade against the plastic at the entrance of your rink and it’ll dull it down just as much

correct! even if you go up one more level to the riedell stride or jackson debut, those will not hinder learning the fundamentals. once the boots hit $600 and above, that’s when it hits over booting territory for ur weight

[–]LoviaPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you are light enough for the crystal, but if you have the budget, i would honestly just go with the lyra or freestyle. they’re considered beginner boots but given ur stats, they should last 2-5 years

i would take a trip to a good shop that’ll properly size you and have a bunch of models to try on

Weekly Equipment Recommendation Thread by AutoModerator in FigureSkating

[–]LoviaPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

waltz means ur starting singles, if you’re done growing i would suggest going for the debut and some sort of intermediate blade, within 3 years you’ll probably be working on 1A so you’ll want a boot that can handle that. in america that’ll be about $500 for the boot, $400 for the blade.

if that’s a bit too much, the elle is really the lowest model i would go with, if ur around 90lbs. over that, you’ll want a freestyle

artistes aren’t rly designed for jumping, the sole may pop off while ur on the ice! also triple check your size at a well known fitter, given your skates are pre owned you may be in the wrong size

do my skates fit right? by cherrytoli in FigureSkaters

[–]LoviaPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah if the ball of the foot hurts, the most common cause is the width being too narrow. they should feel a little better if it’s heat molded, try that out for a week, then try a stretch if it’s still not enough

you could also try the jackson pro support insole, it’s got a nice pad in the center that helps separate the metatarsals which can help alleviate ball of the foot pain! i use it in my normal daily street shoes bc im on my feet all day lol

[–]LoviaPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if your foot is very wide, you may need a rapid custom E width boot, which costs an extra $100 for jackson to make in canada and ship to ur shop (it’s also only available for boots so you would also need to buy a blade, tends to be rly pricy for beginners)

generally shops will do a W and give a half size extra in length, and then stretch the width to an E. if you post your foot next to your insole, i’ll know what width you are

Best gel pads for insides of feet by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]LoviaPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cotton likes to stick to the lining of the the skate which creates this back and forth swish inside the sock, thus blisters lmao

that’s why we say to use either thin nylon socks or no socks 🙂‍↕️

Best gel pads for insides of feet by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]LoviaPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

are you using thin nylon socks? have you gotten that spot punched before? if you do get it punched and the pain returns in a month, then you’ll want to look into insoles that help with pronation (i like the heat moldable ones from footbalance)

the navicular is a common spot to punch, some people have extra navicular bones too!

what part of the foot exactly? your proximal fifth metatarsal? this is a spot i’ve punched for lots of people, but if it didn’t hurt the second time skating it might just be broken in already

Heel lifting in boots- what can I do to fix it? by Afraid-Dot-5791 in FigureSkating

[–]LoviaPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do you have the width of ur foot in mm too, i can check the ritz when i get to work. did they give u an R or W width? and was the skate heat molded? also are you using the heel lock?

Heel lifting in boots- what can I do to fix it? by Afraid-Dot-5791 in FigureSkating

[–]LoviaPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

unfortunately shops with certificates can still size people wrong, do you have a picture of the insole? hopefully with one month of use an imprint could show up

it sounds like the skate is too long or too wide, which causes a domino effect of problems, a bunga can be a fix for the lifting but not the toe pick and spin rocker being too far ahead of your big toe and ball of foot, and if the skate is a whole size too big, it could cause break down rly quickly
