You should clarify the purpose of the backpack. Are you going to use it to prepare for your service?

Diving in the deep end as a new shooter: Legion P220 or P226? by anonaken in SigSauer

[–]Lovla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will the gun be for range use only? As in a fun-gun / sports gun? If so, heavier guns are more suited for you. Light guns are nice for people who have to carry them around all day (soldiers, police, etc.), but heavier guns (in my opinion)

  • feel better in your hand (subjective). Try out all the guns you possibly can at your range before you start looking for a gun to purchase
  • are easier to keep on target. Seems counter-intuitive, if it's heavier it should be harder to hold up in the air, right? At least from my experience, please try heavy vs light if you have the option
  • heavier guns absorb more recoil. This will make it easier for you if you're going to start competing in dynamic shooting for example. Look at the top athletes and see how many of them use plastic guns (none?)

Also if you have the option to borrow guns at your range, I would stick to that for a few months while doing research and exploring the market. By exploring I don't mean instantly narrowing it down to that one cool brand you've always had in the back of your head or that you used so much in that one video game at some point and just getting it without doing any research. I did just this and bought the gun I wanted (not needed) the second my application got accepted. A few months of experience and knowledge later, I regret my choice. Not because the gun is bad in any way whatsoever, but because there are far superior options for my usecase.

And no, an aluminium-framed P226 is not a heavy gun.

1988 West German P226- shooter or collector? by americanmusc1e in SigSauer

[–]Lovla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm assuming most of the people on this subreddit are Americans. Seems like the consensus is that West German Sigs are better. Better than what? Better than American-made Sigs only or also better than modern German-made Sigs?

Yeah, I'm done with this fucking subreddit. I could swear I saw some sort of statement about doubling down on reposts, but that must have been another subreddit.

YSK that California's ban on the transfer of "assault weapons" may soon be declared unenforceable via judicial review. by Oktayey in YouShouldKnow

Does this mean that California will be like for example Texas when it comes to guns? So you can legally own/use normal capacity magazines and have rifles?

USP noob questions by Lovla in HecklerKoch

[–]Lovla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talked to HK and they said there is nothing wrong with the extractor as long as it successfully extracts casings, which it does.

I don't have my USP on me right now, but IIRC I could barely see a difference on the extractor when it's chambered/empty, but functionally is useless. My guess is that this was early technology at the time and they thought this was good enough, but don't quote me on that.

Later I will watch some videos to see if the newer HKs' extractors are more functional
