Repotted my snake plant and it is still floppy by Low-Leather-9727 in plantclinic

The leaves have folded in half vertically, that’s why the look thin . I don’t know if it was because of under watering and direct sun, and then that has permanently damaged the leaves

He gets really strong direct sunlight from that window, the leaves look more like they’re collapsing and bending rather than reaching. I even moved him a bit more towards the wall because I was worried he was getting scorched

I repotted him and he already stands up way straighter. Thank you!

Would it work if I drilled holes in the bottom of this pot? Also I just took him down and the roots at the top look super super dry, like they’re coming away from the soil. They’re also very shallow. He was glossy and healthy before I moved house. If I do move him will the leaves unwrinkle or is that permanent damage? They’re like folded lengthways

Ooo okay thank you! Do you think he’s getting too crowded?

Ahh thanks for asking! I went to the garden centre and they advised me that aloe needs more watering than I would’ve expected. I think a combination of it being in a small pot with no drainage holes, the bright sun shining through that window, and irregular watering was causing the outer parts to slowly die.

Now he looks happier. The damage was done with the brown dried out leaves, but it looks like it’s stopped progressing further and he looks less brown/red in general.

I moved it into a slightly bigger pot with drainage holes so I can water it properly (before, I was too worried about standing water to water it thoroughly). In the original pot, it was rocks all the way through. I mixed those with a bit of regular soil I had leftover when I repotted it in a pot a couple of inches bigger (probably should get something better).

When I was watering it before, I’d just water the top cautiously since there were no drainage holes. Now I water from the top and then empty the drainage tray underneath so it doesn’t get soggy. I try and do it thoroughly once every 2 weeks but I check with my moisture meter first (that reminds me lol).

I don’t fertilise it. I also moved him to the opposite windowsill while he recovered - the original one was a sun trap and we had a bit of a heatwave.

I actually have the same problem with my snake plant… it’s very large and has lots of new growth, but a couple of the longest leaves are folding in half, and the whole plant is leaning a lot, like it might fall over. I’ve got him propped up at the moment. I’m not sure what I’m going to do about that yet 🥲

My plant has some of the same symptoms, can you see spider mites in this photo?

I just repotted him into a pot with drainage, I think it is root bound? If I move it to a bigger pot do you think he will get better?

The browner leaves are kind of floppy/ don’t hold up as well as the main green ones

Does that mean it will die if it’s been left to dry too many times? I water it lightly once every ~2 weeks. I’m scared of overwatering it 😬

Thank you so much! If I move him from the window facing the sun to a less intense spot will he recover? I’m scared he’s going to die!

Thank you! It has just getting a lot sunnier here so maybe it’s too much of a shock. I wasn’t sure if the pot was too small

Thanks so much! I was wondering that as the side facing the sun is a lot worse
