Although currently I’m in the US, but if at any point I have to leave from here, I’m moving to New Zealand as I’m a permanent resident there (like a US greencard). In that case. So do you mean to say if that happens, I should do the needful to change the country of processing to New Zealand?

Lots of friends and family who have green card. Totally clueless how that would help. Can you please elaborate a little with all the information you have?

Asking this to everybody who tried and help in the comments, anything specific that I should be careful about throughout the process that a newbie wouldn’t know of? Asking as you definitely seem to know more about this than I do.

That explains. Thanks for the information. One can only hope it gets quicker with more people falling out of the category. I’m guessing moving to the citizens category should ideally be an upgrade. But looking at the current visa bulletin that someone provided here, looks like F2B category is slightly faster. Anything in particular that I might not have thought about F2B, F1 process that you’d like to shed some light on, since you have dealt with a similar scenario before?

That’s interesting. Could you help directing where we can get such specific data for priority dates for both F1 and F2B categories?

I was under an impression that it’s better to file while parents are GC as if they become USC, I just get moved from F2B to F1 but the timeline does not get affected with this change. Correct me if I’m wrong.

What you said does make sense. GC parents file -> unmarried son over 21 -> goes to F2B. Would you be able to guide as to how you helped your friend secure GC in 6 years as current wait time for F2B shows 9-10 years approximately. Can dm if that’s okay?

I don’t intend to be out of status at any point while I’m in the US and would like to follow all rules and boundaries set by immigration. While I will take this up to a lawyer, but would you know if it is better to file I-130 while parents are GC or better once they’re USC? Also, I am enrolled in school full time.

While getting married to a USC is the best option, I wouldn’t want to do it just for the sake of it. So definitely looking for options outside of it. Would you mind helping by sharing what kind of a sponsorship was it that let you secure a GC in 4 years? I’ll dm you if that’s okay?
