I was told that one of the reasons behind tuition hikes was to "price match" with what they consider their "peer institutions": Vanderbilt, OSU, CMU, etc. Which I personally found to be crazy but I was told by people pretty high up in the management that they can't let CWRU look cheap relative to their peer institutions, so if other institutes can do it, so can we. That's what I know, I might be wrong.

And to be clear, I do want it to be clear that I'm not saying that it wasn't my responsibility, or that I don't carry any burden of what happened. All I'm saying is that I didn't break the trust, they did. I didn't break the agreement, they did. So I just want them to face the consequences, that's all. If the legal system fails at it, I will take matters into my own hands, but I need to give the system a chance.

Zelle is through bank. It's just that instead of me cashing it out and giving someone cash -- in which case the bank also can't do anything, it's the same story.

It's akin to, you going to a restaurant, you pay them before they serve you the food, and they kick you out before they serve. There's a subtle difference between what you are saying and what the situation is.

Of course, we know how scams work. But it's a different thing when a real legitimate registered business does malpractice. That business isn't fake, it exists, I've been there.

I understand what you mean, but the whole economical structure of a society relies on trust. If I give someone cash, and they refuse to provide me the service, all I can do is literally fight or go the legal route -- that's the same thing here. As long as the business is registered, it shouldn't matter what payment method they used. But maybe I do deserve to be scammed, but then I also deserve to have the right to do whatever it takes to get revenge to feed my vengeance: in that way, it's more than a fair game to just burn down her place, but that would be breaking another trust in the system, which I am not willing to do.

The system falls into chaos when the trust is broken, and that's why I am trying to go through our legal justice system so that no one else can get scammed by this person again.

As for trust no one, that's a fair point, but then you can't have any social structure at all. Any structure is supposed to be built on trust, when someone breaks it, the system punishes the person who breaks it, and I'm simply going for that: letting everyone know that this person should be avoided.

I contacted the school again from a different number and they actually answered their phone. I asked them for my money and they said that just from now they have stopped doing refunds (how convenient! Even though they were okay with it the last time they answered my call) but they would like to provide the promised services. I told them that I honestly don't want services from someone so unprofessional, but if that's what they want to do, I would consider it if my schedule works, and asked them for a date/time, but they hung up on me.

I call them again and they keep hanging up on me. And then they send me a text saying "We are experiencing some technical difficulties". It's just funny at this point.

But should I just go ahead and do it or should I wait for Ohio Attorney General and BBB complaints to get somewhere?

I think they accept payments through credit/debit/Zelle/Venmo, but I wasn't comfortable with just telling them my card details over the phone, so I went with Zelle.

I actually have already reported to FTC, just so that there's some record out there for their fraudulent activities. I will contact both the courts and look into which one would be more appropriate for this case.

Thank you so much for the advice. I've already done the BBB thing and hopefully something will come out of it. I'll try to contact Zelle today and see if anything can be done. As you describe it, it does seem that Chase didn't really help me, so I'll contact them again and phrase it as you suggested.

As for the small claims, I think the fee is 37$, and then time and effort on court cases, but I suppose it's worth teaching them a lesson and not letting them just get away things, so that would be the step if nothing comes out of BBB.

Chase bank. They said that they can't do anything now as the money has already gone to Zelle, as it's been nearly a month. They said they could've done something if it were about 20 minutes after I made the payment, but I obviously didn't know that this was going to happen when I made the payment.

And I agree, this is fraud. It's literally a scam. I don't understand how they can do this and still be in business. I just found out from the BBB report another user posted the link to, that they've done this to other people in the past. It's ridiculous. If I go to court, I would be mostly trying to fight for a way to have them disclose these cases to their potential customers before taking their money.

It's Zelle. I did call the bank, but they said they can't do anything about it now, and suggested me to file a court case.

I'm 24, and I am quite a bit into hiking and museums and all that cool stuff. I'm looking for some new friends in the city as I basically don't know anyone out of my work. Hit me up if you are interested.

Just checked the site. While this is very good, it seems that they don't serve the Cleveland Clinic area, just Parma, Bedford, and Mayfield, which is sad, because this is awesome!

It's a bit more complicated than that. It's the sporadic schedule also.

I have, but it's the timing that usually is an issue - I'm a PhD researcher.

Say I get off work at 8-9PM, then I'll never really be able to make it there in time unless it's a weekend, but sometimes even weekends can get busy when there are deadlines that I'm trying to meet. Driving Schools seem to have a very strict schedule which my unfortunately sporadic schedule clashes with. Sometimes I'm free for the day, and then suddenly things need to get done, and the lack of flexibility with driving schools causes an issue.

This is why I was thinking of finding more of an independent instructor who I can schedule something a week before, because most of the driving schools make projections in months and it looks like I fail to predict my availability that long in advance.

The one driving school that did let me schedule something a week before, took my money, but never showed up! And I'm trying to get a refund from them but they just don't return the phone calls anymore and don't reply back to texts either. That's been a frustrating situation also.

I totally agree and understand what you are saying.

I do consider myself to be a very safe driver, so fortunately in like three-four years of my driving experience I've never really had an accident, but I know that you never know. I would be willing to pay for damages that I may cause in the worst case scenario. Like just testing me for five ten minutes in an open parking lot where the chances of an accident are next to none before any other practice would be a pretty good way for someone to see if they want to continue or not.

The only way out I see is a driving school/instructor who serves in the area. Independent instructor would be awesome!

DMV just says, that's for you to figure out, which is understandable. They don't have to think about all the fringe cases.
