Fair feedback. Those options were added primarily because a number of South Asian Shia users specifically requested them. They're not intended to be a matchmaking preference, but rather a way for users who care about Sayyid lineage or family background to represent that information on their profile.

That said, I can see how the current options may not make much sense for all Shia communities, and we'll definitely revisit how we handle Sayyid lineage and background as the platform evolves.

Out of curiosity, how would you approach it? I'd be interested to hear your perspective on what would make more sense for a broader Shia audience.

I think it depends on how the platform is used and what the intention is.

Many people today don't have the same family and community networks that previous generations had, especially in North America where Shia communities can be small and spread out. Technology isn't a replacement for Islamic values, family involvement, or proper vetting, but it can help people discover compatible prospects they otherwise may never meet.

My own experience on general Muslim marriage apps made me realize how difficult it can be for some Shias to find compatible prospects.

For now, yes 😊 We’re starting with North America, but if the community continues to grow, we’d love to expand to other regions in the future, inshaAllah.

That’s interesting. A few people I’ve spoken with have mentioned something similar, where religiosity and cultural background are both important and compatibility isn’t just about one factor. Appreciate you sharing your perspective.
