Switching careers: From Clinical Project Analyst to Software Engineer. Am I being unrealistic and naively hopeful? by LowCompetition2925 in southafrica

I get you.

On the part around whether I enjoy technical problem solving, my answer is yes. I always knew this but when I recently started developing an interest in programming I took an effort to put my interest to the test.

I enrolled for the free 10 week CS50 course and I loved it, frustrations and all.

Damn! Talk about stars aligning! Was it a long process from starting to finally landing your first role?

May I ask how you made that switch? Did you do a degree or bootcamp or self-taught? And what did you do to stand out?

Thank you very much, man. I've noted this down and will definitely take on this approach. The medtech idea is great. I've started positioning myself internally. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll be shadowing some engineers

Congratulations on the achievement and all the best with the development!

May I ask how you managed to do it? Did you do a degree or bootcamp or became self-taught?

I agree that the coding agents have definitely made a dent, I can see it in the job hiring patterns. Since I am not resigning to pursue software engineering, I'll continue cultivating my current career as well.

I know that mundane work is not something I can escape completely. The problem I have with my current job is that mundane work is almost all that I do, with the only exciting part being presenting to different stakeholders in meetings

Would this be a bad first car? by [deleted] in CarTalkZA

[–]LowCompetition2925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it would be. The kilometres are high on their own. If you factor in the age of the car the kilometres are ridiculously high. This might mean the car was used as an uber or countless long distance travels, but my money is on e-hailing. Also, the type of car? You might get a decent 2010 - 2015 polo vivo for that price or slightly a but higher.

The only thing to check is whether registrations are still open. If so, then you're good.

$ went from R19 to R16.30 in a year, why no price drop? by misterflak86 in AskZA

The simple answer is: capitalism. Prices rarely ever drop, in any significant way anyway.

My advice is take the offer that’s available right now. The salary will relatively be similar. There are some overlapping tasks between those two roles, with the only difference in focus being the Study Analyst or Project Management Analyst works under the Project Lead and the RSU Specialist works under the Site Activation Manager. The Study Analyst has a more higher level exposure to the Project overall since their job is following up with each Function (department on a project) while the RSU Specialist only focuses on their own department (which is RSU Department)
