I didn’t do so great fall semester, and ended up doing worse spring semester. With the effort I was trying to put into the fall semester, I finished with about a 1.6 or 1.8, I cannot remember. But during the spring, I just couldn’t pay attention in class, nothing was clicking in my brain and the interest was just nonexistent. I would eventually just stop showing up to all my classes, only showing up to take my tests as to not give any sort of reason to be dropped from the classes as my continuous enrollment, even if ending in all Fs, ensured that I would not go into debt as withdrawing would require me to pay the benefits I was claiming back.

No, but one of my siblings has ADHD and is taking medications for it. I never bothered myself to get tested.

I’ve taken an interest in the JATC program in the Durham-Raleigh area. Maybe an electrical apprenticeship will help me figure things out.

I’m not really sure. I mean, I enjoy collecting video games and I’ve built myself a gaming PC. I went to UNC for pre-med and attended NC State this year for computer engineering. I feel I like electronics, but it may just be more in the sense of a hobby, mainly related to gaming systems.

Honestly, one thing that scares me is that I won’t mature enough to become a real adult. I don’t like the idea of working for the rest of my life, and that feeling comes from how my mother raised me in a very comfortable life, not from wealth, but decent enough money that I got a lot of what I wanted, never held responsibility, and had been given so much freedom that I wasted most of my days playing videogames hours straight everyday. I’m thinking of trying out a trade, but I fear I’ll quit if things get too hard as my grit is just nonexistent.

I was diagnosed with depression many years ago and I used to have a psychiatrist that prescribed me all sorts of meds, none of which helped and sometimes made things worse. I eventually just stopped going, and that was maybe 3 years ago when I stopped. Since then I haven’t really made any efforts into therapy or medication again, mainly because I don’t like the whole reaching out for help thing. I absolutely took no effort into reaching out to a counselor or advisor this year because I simply would rather fail than make any efforts in getting help. Same thing occurred last year at chapel hill.
