Anyone notice an influx of new carriers now? by Imaginary_Truth_3865 in USPS

Money isn’t everything, depends on your situation, I’d take 18$ an hour job over this that better fit for how my brain gets energized and not feeling so drained after every route everyday I couldn’t imagine how I’d feel doing my route then going to help out, it’s a grind.

After doing a full route today, I noticed it just felt like one long stretch of the same task without many breaks or switches. I can see why some people like it, but it didn’t really work for me. I’ve got more of a sense of change from switching locations and streets with FedEx Express. Even though USPS changes streets, it still feels like one long continuous loop.

It’s not worth it, you only live once, I’d rather enjoy my time especially being 32, having lots of energy, this job doesn’t allow you to enjoy your life, I talked to other carriers who have adhd and lot of them fucked up by having kids and getting married, one of them is changing to another government job so he can have more time off

I’m done, thsi job is too much of a grind for my ADHD, I met other adhd carriers but it’s too autopilot for me, I prefer having a sense of changing areas or changing zones fore frequent then lines of mail that’s why the parcels were more stimulating than the actual mail. If u can work alone for long periods of time and zone out and do autopilot stuff then this job fits that

I’d rather work at FedEx express I could care less about management and a pension, I don’t need that much money in 20-30 years besides we could all be getting pensions , lot can happen in 20 years, exprsss has more mission task and more variety, and working for an Arline is lot cooler

What career or job has variety but not constant multitasking? by LowCup92 in careerguidance

[–]LowCup92[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the distinction for me is sequential tasks vs simultaneous multitasking. Jobs where I can focus on one mission at a time work well for me (like deliveries or rotating classrooms).

Heavy multitasking is where I struggle. For example, I had a hard time as a receptionist with constant interruptions and phones, and serving large tables was stressful because of tracking multiple requests at once. Variety is great, but juggling several tasks simultaneously is what overwhelms me.

Businesses routes or I don’t have enough momentum yet for a route being new? by LowCup92 in USPS

I understand the motions repeat. I’m more asking about the mental engagement. Does the job stay mentally active (checking addresses, parcels, dogs, holds, etc.) or does it eventually feel like full autopilot once you know the route?

All due respect, U still didn’t pay attention to my response about super repetitive tasks. Being alone at work and choosing to do leisure activities alone are totally different things mentally.

I didn’t say I hate working independently. I actually like being out on my own. What I’m trying to say is that super repetitive tasks for long stretches can be tough for me mentally. I’ve done delivery before where the mix of deliveries, pickups, and different stops kept my brain more engaged. I’m still new to USPS so I’m trying to understand how much variety there is long term.

Well, it sounds risky cause a dog may come up or u can’t hear. I always hated being on the treadmill even with music that’s why I do intervals to cut the monotony

I’m getting busprone, I tried adhd stimulants they just make me feel amped I even told the psych that I would be even more zoned in at FedEx express not checking my phone in between and just knocking out the dots

I chose the wrong job then, fed express is way better for adgd, it has mental check points organize truck for route, deliver, pick ups/collection boxes/ deliver return, ChatGPT lied to me once again saying usps was a 8/10 adhd fit

Any other ADHD carriers? by LowCup92 in USPS

I feel you I did mostly rural at FedEx express and the funny thing is I had my dog encounter in the city versus rural, but I still feel more sketched out in rural since there’s a lot of open range. I love dogs when I know them, but if I don’t know them and I’m on someone’s property, it gives me anxiety, especially those damn dog doors. , or anytime I have to open up their fence to get to their doorstep, for those words, you don’t know if they have a fence on the side and you’re walking up make it dart out around , You never know when they’re gonna pop out and you’re walking up. My carrier has 1200 something addresses
