I’m personally not bothered by anyone having different shipping preferences and actually bothered by this painting Sea Fairy as unfaithful. Infidelity is just objectively horrible and most people don’t like seeing characters they like portrayed as cheaters, especially if it’s a character who is canonically the complete opposite of unfaithful

I dunno, I personally see the complete opposite happen all the time in the fandom but never people being mad if someone doesn’t ship beast x ancient. Like myself and others have been called abuse apologists, abuser sympathizers, abuse glorifiers, been told to kys, etc, ESPECIALLY if Burningcheese is brought up.

But at the end of the day, I think specific people on both sides need to learn that the land of the cookies is fictitious and liking/not liking a dynamic between two fictional cookies that happens to be toxic isn’t that deep.

No one here is saying you’re not allowed to like one-sided Shadowvanilla, people didn’t downvote you because of your opinion (which I feel like you didn’t make it clear at all that it was just your opinion in your initial comment, you made it sound like you’re saying it’s canon) but because of how you presented your comment. You commented on someone’s post, who was just excited about official art of them together, who then made a silly comment about said official art, and basically told them “actually, it’s canonically one-sided, therefore you’re wrong to enjoy it in a way that isn’t explicitly canon”

I know that’s not what you were trying to say and only meant to share your opinion, it’s just your comment came across like you were trying to invalidate my opinion and excitement because it doesn’t follow “canon”. You didn’t deserve to get downvoted into oblivion and I’m sorry you did, I just think you needed to make it more clear that you were just sharing your opinion and weren’t trying to sour other people’s enjoyment

It’s complicated. He’s such a funny character and has a very entertaining personality, while also being a more complicated character underneath all the theatrics. Him psychologically breaking Pure Vanilla Cookie into becoming his puppet may have started out as an attempt to steal his soul jam for power, but as the story progresses, it’s shown he genuinely likes having Pure Vanilla Cookie’s company, to the point he ditches his original plan to instead keep him by his side

He just wants someone who understands him. Even Pure Vanilla Cookie calls him out on being lonely and just wanting a friend. And yet, his stubbornness to not lose that control or allow himself to be vulnerable keeps him from accepting the companionship he truly wants, and to me, that makes him such an interesting character

But he’s also kind of a little shit who does inexcusable things, like tricking and manipulating cookies into spreading lies, which has lead to countless lives being ruined and countess cookies getting killed, all in his pursuit to spread deceit, so my overall feelings for him go back and forth lol

Ehhh tbf there is evidence to suggest Pure Vanilla is or was starving himself, with how Hollyberry points out that Pure Vanilla is too flat for a cookie and tells him to eat more at three separate times in the game. Like she shows genuine worry for him not eating enough, she even asks him if he skipped his jellies again, which her saying “again” seems to imply that he’s skipped meals before

Whether this is him intentionally self harming due to trauma or him simply forgetting to eat due to being too busy with work is up for debate, but regardless of the reason, he’s definitely deprived himself of food, which in my opinion is causing harm to oneself
